Resident Evil type game by Suda 51 (Killer 7, No More Heroes, Contact) and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil and Vanquish, most recently)

Destructoid put up a good video preview of it, and all you need to know is it has these 4 things:

Gore, Profanity, Tongue-in-cheek humor, and poop.

Video preview: Shadows of the Damned (Act 1 and 2)

And then I owned your soul when I mentioned Shinji Mikami and it basically being a batshit Resident Evil game. And the poop. Don't forget the poop.

the map between chapters is a reference to Ghouls 'n ghosts, it's the best.

Got the soundtrack with the pre-order.  Not very good aside from the Theme that isn't too bad lol

Great game so far.  Still in the first act, but I'm really loving the humor and action. Garcia is awesome and Johnson makes for a great sidekick.  Just tons of gore, sex jokes, and some fairly solid gameplay that feels abit old school in some areas with the collectibles and things you use to buy health or upgrade your gear.

Having a problem with one of the boss battles right now, the hint is it doesn't deal with hot flashes, so I'm assuming I best it with the light shot or the goat's head that's in the room, but idk how to use either one to defeat it. :/

On the second Act right now (I dont' get why they call it Act 3.  The intro shouldn't count as an act lol), so I'll probably be coming up to that boss in abit.

I think it's in 3-2 or something. You'll know it when you get to it. (To be fair, it isn't even a boss, it's like the saw-blade monster that the opera lady summons. Just something stronger that you haven't fought yet." If you figure it out before I do let me know what you have to do. I'll probably start playing again tomorrow and go "I'M A GENIUS."

And I beat the game.  I'd probably say it's about 7 to 9 hour game on the normal setting and while I wish they hadn't quite ended it like they did, I think it's a great series I'd like to revisit if it does well enough.  Would be cool if the sequel went for something abit more open, ex. Darksiders, but I'd take another linear run.  It's just a solid game with some good humor and gore.  There were even a few parts where you just go "Whoa, this is fucked".

I'd only recommend it as a buy if your the kinda guy that replays singleplayer games often.  There sadly doesn't seem to be much replay value to the game in particular, such as what you could do with Resident Evil 4, where you'd be able to replay the game with everything you upgraded.  Kinda surprised at this, but the game itself was fun.

If anything, it's a must have to rent.

*EDIT*
Also just read a review and I can't say I agree that this game has significant bugs or flaws, at least for me it didn't. Sure, some minor AI issues at a couple points, some texture loading at the beginning of the level, maybe an odd bug or two, but I never came up against anything that kept me from moving forward or progressing, which are what I consider significant.  What game doesn't have at least a few bugs or problems in it? I think you'd be hard pressed to find one that is utterly perfect lol

I knew that much, I just didn't know what I was supposed to do in the darkness.

Beat it, enjoyed it. Wish there was new-game+ so I could actually upgrade everything though. Also love that one of the loading tracks is a loop of the first few seconds of this song from No More Heroes.

No More Heroes "Beam Katana Chronicles"

Would I have enjoyed the game even more if I had played No More Heroes? I had only played games of two of the three big people involved lol Waiting to play No More Heroes when it comes out on the PS3.

There aren't any big No More Heroes references, other than the one tune in the loading screen. This game fully stands out on its own.
