So the big C has decided as of late to become the chief third-party disappointment machine

I'll start:


After releasing 5 Phoenix Wright games, Capcom will not localize game #6.  I'm guessing the 3DS switch killed the possibility. This series is the sharpest, funniest, and most well crafted point and click adventure games I've ever seen anywhere.

To be fair, the first Ace Attorney Investigations wasn't great. There was a lot of engrish and really dumb plot twists. It's probably the worst next to Justice for All.

Granted I only played Dead rising 2 so I don't know much about Frank West, but it seems kinda cheap to Resale DR2 with him in it as a brand new game. The "What if" games.

I'm split on that one.  The story is being changed to fit Frank, with new weapons, features, and a big area added in, but then again...yeah it's still DR2.  I believe it is cheaper though.  I might grab it since I sold off DR2 awhile back.

How about Ultamate MVC3 boys? Those extra 8 characters are totally worth the buy. Again.

Though playing as Phoenix Wright might be enough for me to shovel my money to them.

yeah i left DR2 installed because i was banking, more accurately circling port in my pirate ship waiting on DLC to be released for it , but then i saw that battery/Sledgehammer promotional vid and i was like "uhh new game?"

It's 12 extra characters, along with new features, a rebalancing of the game, new HUD (with a quite easier to see Xfactor symbol, it was sometimes hard to see the old xfactor symbol.) Giving new moves to old characters. The 12 characters without any balancing or shit would cost you $60 since each character is $5. They're instead releasing the new game for $40 with a shit ton of new stuff. This isn't a ripoff to people who like fighting games, only people who play fighting games for the "story." Yes, it's nice when fighting games have a good story, like Mortal Kombat 9 does. However there's more work put into the story in MK9 than there is into the gameplay and the game is likely going to be dead after EVO, unless it gets a major rebalancing.

And for all we know MML3 may go back into development sometime, it's not like their mindset is "Okay guys, game is cancelled, delete the code!"

I have my whole list here!

1) Cancelling Ace Attorney game translations. As a fan of the series I'm mad about this.

2) Not bringing over any more Monster Hunter games because it's not popular enough here. Bullshit. MH3 reportedly sold something like 475k copies in the North American region. While this isn't anywhere near the success it is in Japan, it's also far from bad. Given the amount of text to translate in the game (relatively little compared to other games that sell less), they're making a decent bit of profit from it I'm sure.

3) Ruining Devil May Cry. Granted they aren't developing it, but they gave away their license and approved of this change so...

4) Selling out RE even more. RE4 is being released on the 4th and 5th consoles. It was a good game yes, but we don't need it this much. They're just cash grabbing.

5) The no-deleting saves fiasco on Resident Evil Mercenaries.

6) Megaman cancellations is bad.

7) Not living up to promises and releasing redone versions of games mere months after their release. See: UMVC3. While it may be an extensive add-on, it's kinda a dick move to announce it around 5 months after release of the original version. Maybe the community needs the game's support, maybe not. I still think it's a dick thing to do.

Yeah not saying that MML3 might NEVER be made, but after waiting all these years, to have it canceled and set aside for years more just isn't cool.  I guess there's a rumor of Namco picking it up, but who knows...

They currently have no plans to port MH3 at the very least (or the PS3 version). Since their excuse is it doesn't make enough money, I'd put it as unlikely we get others for a bit.

I don't think it's a dick move. The earthquake offset development of DLC for awhile, and they realised "Hey, SSF4 sold well, our development schedule got fucked up because of the earthquake, let's release a complete package for $40." Most people see it as an asshole move. The actual people who ENJOY fighting games for the audience Capcom mostly caters to, appreciate it. And to be fair, you can still get 3 more months enjoyment out of MvC3, and this is much better than the yearly update a lot of other games do. (this is not a yearly update, but they add new features and charge less instead of adding new features and charging more.) I have faith in them as far as developing the actual game goes, just hope they improve the netcode. Capcom knows what audience it's catering towards. (You know, the ones that kept playing fighters during the dark years of 2001 to 2009 where there were no new big 2D fighting games and actually caused the reemergence of fighting games like Blazblue (as much as I hate it,) King of Fighters coming back, Skullgirls, HDR, 3SOE, etc.) Casual players will pick it up, be mad it doesn't have a real "story mode" and get their asses kicked online, call the game cheap, and trade it in. The people who actually enjoy it will continue playing the game and watch it evolve.

Apparently Capcom is in the process of complete disowning Mega Man.  Aside from the cancellation of Legends 3, apparently at Comic-Con, at the Capcom Booth they are not letting in any Cosplayers Mega Man related and also if you even mention Mega Man they'll have you escorted out of the booth.

Apparently Capcom is in the process of complete disowning Mega Man.  Aside from the cancellation of Legends 3, apparently at Comic-Con, at the Capcom Booth they are not letting in any Cosplayers Mega Man related and also if you even mention Mega Man they'll have you escorted out of the booth.

I could kinda see the cosplayers being disallowed, but I could see that for anything like that. If you're a company and someone is dressed up (well) as one of your characters, people might think you employed them to represent you. I'm sure a lot of people would realize it was a fan, but all it takes is a few people who think it's hired help to complain about how shitty Capcom's cosplay representatives treated them.

Granted that's a stretch and kinda extreme,  but it's an explanation. Kicking people out for talking about a game though... that's just sad. I've only seen some reports though, I want a news source at Comic-con to confirm it for us before I jump to conclusions (as much as I'd love to jump now)
