New trailer:

「DragonQuest X」 Trailer

I don't about you guys, but I'm a huge Dragon Quest fan. Needless to say, I came. According to Destructoid, DQ X is supposed to be more MMO-like in a Monster Hunter sort of way, but you can still complete it 100% on your own. You can group up with other players and create a party as well as see other parties/players wandering around in-gamel. New quests will become available online. If you've grouped up with someone previously you can use that person's character in your party even if they're not online (probably with limitations in regards to skill/item selection). It's slated for release in 2012 on the Wii (will probably require USB HDD), with a Wii U version in the works as well. From the looks of the trailer, they seem to be introducing new playable races as well.

I was really hoping for a narrative-driven one like VIII which I really doubt this can be as it's still primarily a multiplayer game. It's also a shame that the battle system seems very slow and not involved compared to Xenoblade and even FFXII.

I'll still prolly pirate it though

More importantly we finally get an Itadeki Street in America and it has slimes <3

Looks like they're going to require subscription fees, at least for the Japanese version. Unless Squeenix pulls a Capcom (and I have no reason to believe they will), people in NA/Europe will probably have to pay as well.

I likely won't use the online features if they're pay to play. The co-op abilites in DX9 were decent (Especially at higher tier grotto maps), but I doubt I'll pay for them unless it's something really new and exciting.

They probably won't be pay to play in the US. This was the case with MH3, it was pay to play in Japan, but free to play online in the US.
