Looking at a new motherboards and processors.

Current processor: AMD athlon II x4 645 @ 3.1GHz

I have been looking at new processors for a while and found that the best i can get for and upgrade currently is Six core AMD at 3.5GHz or anything along those lines. It would have to be a 95 Watt or less model like the one in the link or else it wont be compatible with my motherboard
Motherboard Specs

I could go with AMD but I would rather look into options of a new motherboard compatible with intel series processors i5 or i7(if the price is right) as they are far superior to AMD for gaming purposes mainly and as Hek informed me AMD as a company is not doing very well anymore

Trying to keep in mind i want to only spend $300-400

You can get a 3570k from microcenter for $170 but you have to pick it up in a store or have a friend willing to do it for you. After tax that leaves you more than enough to pick up a good mobo under budget.

Switched to Intel this year, probably never going back to AMD

Got a 3770 i7

You are really limited with your AM3 socket. All the compatible CPUs are have been discontinued.
You can try finding a Phenom II X6 1065T but for the cost, you aren't getting much more out of it.

I too would recommend the Intel route.

My go-to mobo, the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H is $150 on Newegg with a $100 MIR. You can likely find it for even cheaper elsewhere.
Combo that up with Mission's i5-3570K deal.

+2 for the i5-3570k Microcenter deal. That's what I did.

About the ASRock motherboard, watching Scar build his (same mobo and processor), it seemed to behave just fine, though we had to do a few rounds of driver updates. I rather like the UEFI BIOS. Also, the PCB is actually brown, though it looks black in pictures Tongue

The ASrock mobo looks good and it may be a better choice since that will put me under budget easily with either mobo becasue of the sweet deal on the processor.

If you can wait a bit over a week I'll report back with my experiences using it. There are Gigabyte mobos that match it price-wise, try the D3H maybe.
