What's pretty to look at these days?

My dual Dell 20" 1650x are like 6-7 years old. I'm thinking of replacing one with something 22-24ish, newer, fancier, etc. Still will keep the second (if there is room on my desk) for mumble/vent/steam/winamp/etc.

Asus and Samsung have nice screens. I suggest getting at least a 24in for your primary. Makes it easier to see things while gaming with less eye strain.

i would have posted approximately the same thing. haven't had an ASUS monitor but have only heard good about them. i'm typing this on a 5 year old 24" samsung syncmaster and my tv/monitor over to my right is a 3 year old 25" samsung syncmaster. both have been good and continue to be. i also have a 23" NEC monitor, but it's a fairly cheap IPS (cheap for an IPS, anyway) and i haven't tried playing games on it yet. colors, viewing angle, and brightness on it are very good though.

i should try playing some games on my IPS monitor sometime.

Derp, everything I could contribute has been summarized by the previous two posters. ASUS/Samsung have always been good, and I'm currently on a 24" Samsung syncmaster. Get an LED backlight!

I have an older Dell and it has the most accurate colors out of any monitor I've owned. I can't speak for the latest versions but I'm sure they're worth looking into.

I have a Dell as my secondary. If I recall correctly from when I was looking at monitors, refresh rate or some other random spec that most Dell monitors had was not ideal for gaming. I don't know anything about the Dell Ultrasharps other than that they were way out of my budget.

The only problem I've ever had with my 2 Asus VW224 22" monitors is that one of them had 2 dead pixels for about a month. Other then that I'll probably get an screen that can do at least 1080p next time I'm shopping for some.

Woo hoo ACEN here I come.

Yeah, they are pretty slow, but you really only notice it with really high contrast stuff.

I've got an ASUS 22" 16:9 that I got on black friday 4+ years ago, still going strong. So's my Hyundai 19" 4:3 for that matter, and that thing's nearly 10.

if i find one a good 120 hz monitor would be nice but they seem to be way to expensive at the moment with me planning to rebuild an older pc of mine to give to my dad for his birthday to replace his 7.5 year old dell thats slowly working its way to its deathbed
