I was going to ask, but then my reasoning took over and thought to myself, "who the hell would have a M18 claymore sitting in their attic". And then I just now I remembered this is America.

Yeah, I might have something to add here.

After I got rid of my old Glock, I was next to gunless for a bit, save for my Savage .22 Rifle

Then I got:

Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm

Then I was all like, Sig Sauer is fucking proswome and I want one.

So I did, chambered in .380

Obligatory douchebag picture of dual wielding pistols.

So all was happy in the world.

Then I decided I needed to step up my calibers a little, what with the impending zombie apocalypse and all, I'm going to need to be able to project more force, farther.

Ruger Mini-14 .223

This thing will drive tacks at 400 yards.

And as always, my favorite.

Savage 64 G .22 sighted in for 100 yards, still accurate to around 110 before bullet drift is just too much. Dead accurate out to 150-175 with uber high quality CCI ammo and a re-sighting of the scope.

This thing is a fucking stud. My buddy has a Ruger 10/22 that he's got at least 1500 into not including the tag on the rifle itself or the Leupold scope, and this little $215 rifle with a decent Tasco scope will throw bullets just as far and normally more accurately. But that's probably me vs him too.

Lies, the A-team taught me that the Mini-14 couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if you were shooting from the inside

My grandfather on my dad's side did a lot of shady shit, including throwing a brick of C4 into a fire in a barrel during WWII so people would leave run away scared shitless and he and his friends could warm themselves up. But I doubt even he could have smuggled one of those home.

I imagine it would be a lot easier than you think.  Or would have been in the 70s and 80s.

Also c4 is very stable and will burn in a controlled manner.  ...Just don't walk up and kick it once its on fire...

Does anybody have a good chart or figures for prices by caliber?
I realize there is a lot to take into account like round type, quantity, and availability but I'm looking for flat comparisons like
100 rounds of "standard" 9mm costs 20% less than 100 rounds of standard .40 s&w
Also how easy is it to find 10mm in bulk? it strikes me as uncommon just because people talk about 9, .40, and .45 much more often.
Lastly how do you feel about reloaded ammo from ranges or reloading your own?

Generally speaking, pricing is like this:

9mm< .40S&W< .45/10mm

For those who don't know, 10mm is the precursor to .40 caliber. In the 1980s, the FBI worked with Norma ammunition to create a new round that had better stopping power than the 9mm rounds of the day. 10mm was the result. However, a lot of FBI agents had trouble handling the recoil of the fairly fast round. So they had Norma cut the powder load. They then figured out that you could take that same loading, and put it into a shorter case and have the same magazine capacity as a comparable 9mm gun. Thus, the .40S&W was born. 10mm never fully went away, but its popularity waxes and wanes. A lot of 10mm shooters load their own because you can make some pretty weak, low recoil rounds or you can crank it up to some straight up nuclear loads (like a 200gr bullet @ 1300fps). Its also one of the few handgun calibers that can be used to hunt small to medium sized game in the united states so some folks do, in fact, hunt deer with it.

Now for reloading: I don't reload, I want to but it expensive to get into. Most people will collect brass at ranges and reload those, however that has some risks. Once fired brass is fine, but as the case gets shot more and more, the case will weaken and you run the risk of having the round just explode in the chamber. That can be messy.

You're right, the media is not covering something the state has complete legal right to do. Every state is welcome to formulate, and create their own laws independent of that of the federal government. One of many guaranteed capabilities of states within our constitution.

you're missing the part about charging federal employees with crimes when they try to enforce federal law within their jurisdiction, if that jurisdiction lies within the state.

It's largely symbolic. But it would be interesting to see if a state actually tried to throw down with the feds.

the "chilling effect" language is bullshit bluster and detracts from the strength of the argument.

Quote:(d) Any registering or tracking of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition which could have a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens;

That the state, fed, or others require us to register our motor vehicles has had no chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of cars.

Historically, registration has been a precursor to confiscation. I would say that the government has no business knowing what kind of car you drive any more than they have any business knowing what kind of guns you own. The "chilling effect" language is basically Missouri saying "we believe any federal laws that end up discouraging people from buying a firearm are a violation of the 2nd amendment".

This debate falls under the same lines as states legalizing marijuana/cannabis when the feds don't. The states have full right to create, and enforce their own laws, even if they contradict that of the federal government.

The drinking age in the US is 18, but the feds actually enforce a major fine to those states who allow sale to those under 21, so the states actually have the drinking ages at 21 in their own laws. That's why you hear officers in the states say, "The drinking age in the state of insertstatehere is 21." So... yeah. There's all kinds of silliness in laws. Ultimately, I support Missouri in their right to pass such a law. As I would any state, as it is one of many guaranteed rights of states within the constitution. A state is even allowed to question if a federal law is constitutional.

A government should fear its people, its people should not fear the government.

This also means you should be able to buy a suppressor in Missouri without paying the tax stamp.

If that particular tax stamp is meant to "deter" you from purchasing, which is something the legislature would have to decide.

Nope.  If you read the actual bill, Article 3, para 2 section C makes it pretty cut and dry- "There's a tax on a firearm accessory not levied on other goods?  Not in this state."
