My current one is getting pretty janky.  Only real requirements are it needs to be a good hand size one (no small ones, I have big hands) and 2 thumb buttons.

<+Karrde> welp, time to learn some basic patterning skills
<@Negate> 12121212121212121212
<@Negate> there is a simple pattern
<+Karrde> I changed my mind.  Gonna cosplay as a gay demon from hell and get negate raped instead XD
<+Caffeine`work> Karrde: Gay demon? Why would you need to cosplay just go as yourself
<+FlyingMongoose> Caffeine`work: Karrde would actually have to tone it down some.

I believe the current fan favorite is the Logitech G500, the replacement being the G500s.

I currently own a Logitech G5 v2, Razer Deathadder and a Mionix Naos 8200.

The Mionix Naos is my current mouse. It's fully customizable and does not have drivers, just a non-resident configuration tool.
It fits palm-style grips very well. The buttons are a little too light for my tastes and the onboard lighting is too bright, but can be turned off.
The sensor is super accurate, but being an IR laser type, not good for pet owners. This is my biggest complaint.

If you are goofily claw-gripped like me I use the Logitech G9x.

I must completely disagree in this respect.

MX500, MX518, and the G5 all essentially iterations of the same mouse (MX-G = Laser but other hardware about the same). All of these mouse died on me, with power failure in the exact same way.

Went to a Microsoft Habu (Modified Razer Deathadder), stayed with Razer mice forever, including lachesis (not a good fit for my hand, but could be good for others).

Went to G700, it had weird issue with mouse buttons sticking as though they were always pressed (this is either a glitch in the onboard memory of this mouse, or in the drivers and software memory, I have yet to be able to isolate it). Back to Razer with my Naga, I love it. A little while to get use to form factor for my hand. I use my G700 for my laptop at times. But ultimately, I keep going back to Razer due to ongoing and persistent disappointments I have with almost every logitech product I get my hands on. Including speakers and headphones (bad contacts, and they fall apart... a lot).

Also, using the Naga works quite well as I use a Razer Orbweaver control pad when not just outright typing. Helps keep my wrists comfortable. In planetside I have 2, 4, 6, and 8 bound to directionals for flying with 5 bound to keyboard End for voice chat in mumble. Top mouse button that doesn't change DPI is voice chat for games where I use the 5 for actual functions.

There are 3 pinky-side panels for a more comfortable fit to the mouse. I use the largest one. Apart from my DeathAdder (Habu) this is ultimately the favorite mouse I have ever owned. Quite literally the two are tied with a 3rd being the lachesis. Putting all logitech product mice behind them.

My experiences:

Razer Copperhead - Had a bad habit of locking up periodically. This led me to discover that the cable is also not very sturdy. It's out of production anyway.
Razer Deathadder - Great ergonomics, swore by it for a year or two. However, it's actually kinda flimsy, and the side buttons gave in eventually.
Logitech G500 - Best mouse I've ever had. Reliable, sturdy as fuck, with some additional neat features that were either missing in the Deathadder or didn't have counterparts, despite the G500 being cheaper.

+1 to Logitech, from me.

I can recommend the Corsair M95 for handsize. It's an MMO mouse with 11 buttons on it in a pattern that's ergonomic. I know Corsair makes the M65 for the shooter set, 2 side buttons, dpi on the fly button, looks like its the same size.

After years of using $5 Walmart mice I took a step up to the Razer Abyssus, which runs around $40. Overall it does exactly what I need to do: Accurate 3500DPI, no bells or whistles: left, right and scroll wheel, baby. I never got used to 'MMO mice' or anything with crowded miscellaneous buttons. However, it has a 'shiny' finish that smudges up in a goddamn hurry if you're like me and your hands are basically a mobile skin cell shedding factory. Would really tie a 'battlestation' together but for actual functionality I could've done better. Still, does what I need it to do, so I'm happy.

The G500 looks decent though and isn't overloaded with buttons, I might try it out if I manage to break this one
