The idea for this Media PC is to basically replace the ROKU my family uses. I intend to also include a blu-ray player.

From my research top two options for digital streaming using a remote for a media PC are Plex, and XMBC.

I would most likely be running Ubuntu (or XBMCBuntu) for this media PC, I will probably NOT be using DVR, or network shared video or downloads.

It will most likely be used to run Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and Hulu Plus on a 1080p TV.

I intend to include a Blu-Ray player as well.

What hardware would you recommend for this build? I am trying to keep cost as minimal as possible with still having a fairly quick boot time.

As small as possible form factor is a must.

I do not want to use a Raspberry Pi (though I know i can with XBMC)

<@Negate> there is a simple pattern
<+Karrde> I changed my mind.  Gonna cosplay as a gay demon from hell and get negate raped instead XD
<+Caffeine`work> Karrde: Gay demon? Why would you need to cosplay just go as yourself
<+FlyingMongoose> Caffeine`work: Karrde would actually have to tone it down some.

How about a Marsboard?  It's like a beefed-up Pi.

That right there will not work. There is currently no functional linux Netflix port. The last working one was just a web browser with flash.

Welp, no point in building one of these if it's not going to store anything anyway, especially when Google launched this:
http://google.com/chromecast

and Netflix is supported.

I bought one. I'll let you guys know if its worth it.

It ships in August.
