Do you guys use smaller mouse pads or something bigger like a Tekmat that I've seen in some /r/battlestation threads:

I ask because at Gen Con this weekend, there was a booth there for a company that makes custom playmats for tabletop/card games and they have a larger size that it think would be perfect to put underneath my keyboard and mouse:

(Gen Con free shipping promo code: TK421 is good until Aug 31, 2014)

And, since SOE can't get their shit together and offer PS2 merch, then I can use customizing places like this to get all my Purple/Cyan Vanu gear :p

Hard surface mouse mats with a good amount of space are by far the best I've ever used. I actually have one by Insignia, and one by Razer (eXactMat), the razer ones aren't made anymore, but both are aluminum (Insignia can be found at best buy).

I definitely recommend them.

This is what I use currently: Mionix Propus

It's got a metal plate inside with a thin foam layer and plastic top coating.  I like it a lot.  It stays nice and flat (I hate how neoprene mouse pads that are packaged rolled up don't lay completely flat.... I'm looking at you, Steelseries...)

I am just interested in the mat for something other than a towel to put under my mechanical keyboard that looks purdy.

Desk and Razer Manticor mouse pad. Don't want to deal with extra junk to clean.

Air compressor and Windex wipe down = clean desk.

Most of the other desk mats have been focused towards RC or hobbies. Only down side is they may be magnetized or have lips to contain spills.

I used to have a SteelSeries QCK+ but moved to a 9HD and haven't looked back.
Hard surfaces work better for IR/Laser mice.

Exact problem I had with my QCK. The HD series is fur proof.

I got the mid-sized Goliathus about a month ago: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mouse-ma...ol-edition

Hard mats are cool, but when your mouse has 6400 max dpi it's useful to have a bit of friction. Tongue

Which is why dual sided hard mats are even better.

What, do you need a mouse that moves if it senses your heartbeat in the capillaries of your fingertips?  jeez!

They are going to have to start adding gyroscopes or some shit to correct for tectonic movement, the rotation of the earth, and the moon's gravitational pull...

DPI is just another numbers race. Especially since it only adds in error and inaccuracy into movement readings.
Hell, I run my 8200 DPI mouse at 1800 for most of the time.

Lol yeah, my max is 4000, and that's usually for hip-firing or dogfighting to be able to track quickly without over doing it. Anything higher and my accuracy starts falling off.

Gotta love having on-the-fly sensitivity buttons though. I can jump from 2k to 4k in one button press. Big Grin
