Just moved into apartment middle of last month, still absolutely NO money to house a server, but GameServer's prices are still lowest of any game server provider and they offer chicago location, so... if you want to load it up, I'll provide you the files.

Been hearing interest of stating up an ARK server again.

Some questions before, to help guide setup options.

What are you looking to get out of the game?

What are you looking to get out of the game?
Play with friends and goof around. Potentially fight others in conflicts.
What do you like?
Building and working with others.
What do you not like?
Griefing, outside of that whatever goes
BRBU people only?
Mixed views here, and I am ok with public or private.
PvE or PvP? 
Prefere PvP but happy with PvE as well.
Play with or against others?
Both, I am thinking of like times of peace and times of war. Will need to check if turning pvp on/off or something like that is an option.
Other comments
Prob want taming to be a little shorter but not crazy short. Also tossing around the idea of lowering food/drink consumption a little to make it less of an anoyance

Alright so here's what I'd like (by the way GameServers offers just straight Ark Servers for a decent price [as usual best price on the market actually] unless you go Virtual Private Server from NFO of course (remember 6 GB Ram Minimum for ARK servers)).

Anyway,
What are you looking to get out of the game? 
Casual play but a bit more of a challenge than last time (basically just a slight increase in difficulty like slightly harder to kill dinos)
What do you like?
I sometimes miss Vaginaville, anyway, building is usually cool.
What do you not like?
Public server trolls (essentially the ones who have high levels and immediately get the builds at prime locations)
BRBU people only?
Yes and no, I think the last set up we had was decent (password protected but not a password we really "hid" considering the forum thread was open to anyone to view).
PvE or PvP?
PvE Only, PvP can be fun, but once someone is significantly outleveled it is just a slaughter. Plus we did have some issues last time around
Play with or against others?
I like to play with (communally) others against the environment.

In general, I'm pretty flexible about it. I don't have much of an opinion either way and will probably play no matter what. 


What are you looking to get out of the game? 
I don't really want/need much, I just like dicking about with everyone. 
What do you like?
Exploring, working to tame things, maybe building something more complex
What do you not like?
Super long taming times (it should be challenging but sometimes several hours isn't feasible, even on a weekend).
BRBU people only?
I don't really care either way. Preference is for BRB folks of course but if randos are there I don't care, so long as they can be controlled, should it be needed.
PvE or PvP? 
Don't really care. Either is fine; a little pressure to do well and protect one's shit can be good. Maybe have certain zones considered free-for-all, so you can still safely build somewhere and keep your shit safe, but if you're found outside of a specific area, all bets are off?

What are you looking to get out of the game?
Build stuff, tame dinos, have fun.  Would be nice to do in house stuff once in a while.  No important dino killing, but I think Dodo-Cock-Fighting ring would be fun/funny.
What do you like?
Finding new Dinosaurs and exploring the map.  Also building & designing my own base with help from people is nice
What do you not like?
Griefing and high tame times.  Aint nobody got time for that.
BRBU people only?
Yes, or at least people we are friends with and at least more than one of us know.  No "friends of a friend"  I want to keep the population low so I can see the island not covered in garbage.
PvE or PvP? 
PVE or PVP doesnt matter,  if we do PVP it makes the in houses fun, but offline raiding is just gonna piss me off.  I hate seeing a time sync go in the shitter.
Play with or against others?
Both because I want to be able to go up against a small tribe and have friendly beat em ups or stuff like that.
Other comments
Taming NEEDS to take less time.  Maybe not so much at first, but as we level up and get higher and higher level dinos, I dont want to dedicate a whole saturday taming a dinosaur when I could be making cool structures or exploring the island.  The island is huge and I still have only seen a bit of it.

Not a big fan of the difficulty level changes I think.

Just went to the North to hunt up some more pelt for people. Turns out killing one wolf can get me over 70 pelt? Seems WAY too easy.

Even though I died to a t-rex while sorting inventory and lost all the shit I went out with, I STILL came back on my bird with enough pelt to easily make two full sets.

Also it creates a problem when harvesting stuff, as you get waaaaay too much meat. I had to constantly dump it just because there was so much it was weighing me down and I couldn't easily fly back.
