Ok, I know I'm probably the only one really excited about this. No matter how good or bad it ends up being, it's the closest thing I'm going to get to an actual Parkour game.

I'm really liking that it's all about movement and no damn guns this time. Especially neat seems to be invincibility while in flow. That seems like it might make for fun cinematic styled play.

<+Karrde> welp, time to learn some basic patterning skills

<@Negate> there is a simple pattern
<+Karrde> I changed my mind.  Gonna cosplay as a gay demon from hell and get negate raped instead XD
<+Caffeine`work> Karrde: Gay demon? Why would you need to cosplay just go as yourself
<+FlyingMongoose> Caffeine`work: Karrde would actually have to tone it down some.

I mean, dying light had a shit ton of parkour, but it's parkour + guns + zombies

Yeah I mean something more pure PK. Or at least as close as possible.

I'm alone in thinking the original Mirror's Edge wasn't good. I always thought the free-running was really clunky and that the level design was really poor.

I loved the original. It was innovative for its time and I hope that they do this next one justice.

Hype rating 10/10.

I always thought it kind of was too. It almost felt like quick time events without a visual out audio cue. But I appreciated the goal.

As much as I love it, it really wasn't. It's more like what it could be that has everyone excited. When you really got into the flow, the original was great. But that happened rarely. There was very little variety of paths, and tons of stuff broke up the running. Especially the combat. God that was awful. The story was also a bloody mess. The music, however, was fantastic. Basically, when the game was good it was great but it was less great more often. If MEC can fix these issues then it may be an amazing game.

First gameplay trailer is up. Looks like exactly what I want from the game: Movement, no guns, and fluid combat designed to incapacitate, not have a drawn out duel.

Watching this made me think that it would be awesome to have a game in this style with a mechanic similar to the movie Next where whenever you died you respawned alongside a ghost that shows you exactly what you were doing to die.  Whenever you got to a checkpoint all the ghosts would merge with you.

That'd be kinda neat, though not very Parkour Tongue

BBBBBBBBUMP

So, new trailer up and closed beta signups. Personally, I think I'll not bother with the beta. Don't want to be spoiled for anything if I can avoid it. Also, I'm generally not interested in the multiplayer features in the vein of watch_dogs or other games where it happens during the single player experience. The trailer is all cinematics, but it looks nice. Especially since they fixed some seriously janky animation issues that were driving me nuts as someone who does parkour XD

I enjoyed the first one a lot not for the campaign but for the time-trial challenges.
Much more emphasis and speed and fluidity which should be the goal of it.

During the campaign you're frequently just figuring where to go (slow) or shooting people (clunky).

But running the time-trial courses and trying to get a gold is fun, tough stuff.
You should all go back and play a few of them if you only played the campaign, it's everything everyone wanted from it (minus open world) but also minus the filler.
