So.. yeah... here it is, I guess their indiegogo or kickstarter did well enough, because this launches tomorrow:

Fuck you people are getting scammed and it's fucking non-sense. Why the shit do you people crowdfund for successful businesses? The fuck.

Literally a subsidiary of Activision.

Fuck my life I want off this stupid fucking ride.

2015: HD remakes of the past galore because people are too autistic to come up with their own original ideas anymore

Watch it's not even the same game but people literally judge games by their titles and franchise IPs and not the actual fucking standalone application itself. I for one look forward to the hype-train turning into the butthurt-train. You idiots deserve it with the lack of critical thinking you engage in on the regular.

Can't wait for the masses of rose-tinted glasses to tell me I'm wrong tho. b)

DAE my childhood was le best XDDDDD

God, such a cheap trick. I should get into advertising and marketing. People make me laugh.

I haven't bought it I am just posting about it.  I didn't even crowd fund this. The only thing that stands out to me is its voice acting cast.

Also this isn't a remake; this is an original story about the King that's suppose to take place before the events of Kings Quest 1

Not directed at you specifically, just saying in general.  :p

And that's probably even worse... a bunch of people are hyped up over a game that they don't even know what it plays like just because of "muh franchising". But then they turn around and get mad at CoD for being a franchise with more success than their favorites. b)

But then again, I've come to the realization that I'm not part of the target audience for games anymore. They're marketed towards 16-year olds facing peer pressure to play what's hot right now. Meanwhile, I could bust out a game from the 80s and enjoy it. Most of these ADHD-riddled teens need a fucking "HD remake" before they'll even consider playing a good game.

I can understand the frustration, truly I can; one of my most favorite statements I've seen recently about CoD is the following;
"War never changes, if it did CoD wouldn't be the same game every year."

But even the 1 thing I've EVER crowdfunded (star citizen), is still an expansion upon a universe created over 20 years ago (Wing Commander). Still, at least the man with the reigns there is the originator of that universe anyway and it just makes sense. There are plenty of bad examples out there too.

Yeah, tbh I never got crowdfunding. Why would I want to give money to some indie dev that may or may not fulfill the promises? Or worse, why would I want to give my money to a successful corporation that can just get some investors money? ???

It's becoming quite apparent to me that all you need to do to separate a fool from his money is to make him feel good about it. Nostalgia is the ultimate money-maker... just look at all our movies and games in the last 5 years...

Yes I'll admit nostalgia is what originally drove my decision to support the 1 game I have supported, but ultimately I like what I've seen from them as well, and I have wanted to see something like this for a very very long time anyway. But I can understand what you're saying. Still, in the end the most important part about a game is if it is fun. It's why I really don't like MOBA's and never liked WoW, I never had fun in them. The most fun I have with either game is shitting on them and telling other people how bad they are (without necessarily specifying that it's 'in my own eyes').

You give money to an indie dev you trust who has difficulty finding finance elsewhere. EX: Yooka-Laylee. A bunch of ex-Rare staff responsible for banjo-kazooie and Donkey Kong Country finally doing a collectathon platformer after almost a decade of non-platformers and Microsoft denying them do Banjo 3. Since the game isn't "mainstream" it's difficult to find investors.

That said, investing is a nonsense thing in itself. Why risk money ever?

[/quote]It's impossible to make money (or any type of positive asset) without a degree of risk.  Time, effort and health are also risk-able resources that have risk-assessment thresholds.  If you take risks of varying degrees at every second of every day with these then it's not such a leap to do so with your money, which is no more valuable than the other resources I listed and is in fact ultimately just a representation of them, having no inherent value itself.  And of course people make fiscal investments with disposable income and get positive returns all the time.  Pledging to a video game carries the same risk and reward, it just pays out in entertainment instead of cash, which I would categorize as a "health" resource; in the end, a net profit.  I know you probably didn't want an econ lecture, but I love econ.

And Nitrous sounds like he's making out every crowdfunding project to be a scam, like nothing good has ever happened on kickstarter or that the first indication of success is the actual completed product.  For those who may not know, a kickstarter pledge only cashes out when the project's donation goal is fully met, so the investment starts at the point where the project team is in the best possible position to pursue their goal and have, presumably, given contributors concrete evidence of what they are doing and that they can do it, like how the new pebble campaign started with a fully working prototype watch and the kickstart money went to design, fabrication and distribution.  A pretty low-risk, high-reward investment, really.

People contributing to projects like Star Citizen have real experiences that reduce the apparent risk, like they know Roberts can make a cool space video game, it's unreasonable to relegate it to vaporware.
