Demo hacked! Zombies playable!

Backfire messed around with the cvars of his server, and unlocked the zombies :O They're pretty fun, especially the Smoker's snare traps. Only bad part is the Witch isn't playable, but we could still spawn her. Zombies can also fight each other, so a couple scuffles ensued, until Backfire brought out the Tank XD Don't have any screenies, but Vandam recorded a demo, which should be up later!

My apologizes for the briefness. I'm a bit tired out by the whole ordeal

That was really fun. We messed around for a good hour or so. We only had 5 people, but potentially we could have had a full 4v4 server going. Though there aren't any limits to how much you can spawn. Tank spam anybody?
Worked pretty good though when we slowed down on the bosses.

I spammed the safe room with witches... got some blood one the walls :

I liked playing as a hunter..mainly because you can move so fast and stealthily. Twas awesome.

Valve wouldn't do that to us. People who figure this out deserve this makeshift game of versus...right?

When the full game comes out, I'll be picking hunter a lot. I like bouncing around on walls, then going up to the survivers and dropping masses of medkits and propain tanks.
I'll do this again sometime, either tomarrow or sunday, if anyone's interested in playing some good old humans vs zombies. I'll see if I can bring in some maps from other games. de_dust or something.

ent_fire !self setteam 3 -that'll put you on the infected team. Setteam 2 will put you back on survivers.
director_force_versus_start 1 -restarts round and sets gamemode to versus.

While you're specating, type ghost to enter the spawning mode. Or you can just look to where you want to spawn and type z_spawn boomer, or hunter. It isn't really spawning yourself more as spawning a boss zombie then you automaticly take control of it. We found that out tonight where me and 3clips were spawning each other.

Multiplayer gets a bit harder. You gotta set up a dedicated server with cheats on, but you have to have at least one person there who got there from matchmaking otherwise you can't join your own server. Passwords don't seem to help against mm either.

the making of servers and getting on them with friends is something I got down pat. Thanks for the commands though, I seen those in the cvar list but never actually tried them.

On the subject of Left 4 Dead movies...

Wouldn't the film grain effect make it harder for the encoders to compress the video?  Would it be a good idea to turn off the film grain unless you really want it for the effect... which could probably be replicated better in post-processing?

P.S. I'm kinda surprised the game's film grain effect doesn't include superimposed film scratches and dirt... it's just a mild "static" effect.

never thought about that fail , but you're right, specificaly the way divx and xvid work, if the pixel range hasnt changed since the last frame it just copies the last one , making it more compreessed , witht he film grain hting on making the pixels swap between different shades of grey , it would downgrade the quality a lot. ..

Well, fun while it lasted. Last update fixed the demo exploits, which means no more playing as infected.  :-[

They also took out the pc splitscreen exploit... I have no idea what that was for...
