Server Connection Fix + Need An Admin

Props to FlyingMongoose for pointing out how to get to the server once again from the lobby since Valve decided to break the search key, its a tad bit more complicated, but its better than nothing.

As Lobby leader type the following into console


ms_force_dedicated_server 8.9.31.136:27015


That will FORCE the lobby to go to a certain dedicated server, namely, ours. Now, on to my second point and that is that I don't have the time to properly administrate the L4D server and it mostly goes unused.

Thus I need someone who both understands servers, and likes to play the game to hand the keys over to so to speak. At this point the server is just a money drain on the other two that we run, a small money drain, but a drain none-the-less. I know several of you have asked for various fun mods or maps and I just don't have the time to add/test them.

So if you are interested in stepping up please let me know.



Oh, and if the server doesn't start getting more play in the next month and a half I'm going to cut it off, unless someone else here wants to foot the $20 a month bill to keep it going.

Its not necessarily about being in the server to admin, but I need someone who I can give FTP access to the L4D server to who can run things, as well as someone who actually plays the game enough to organize games and actually get some use out of the server.

ok, as of the present i try to avoid L4d a bit because of how well my computer runs it.
i still like the game and dont mind playing, its just that my computer makes the experience less pleasant

i was going to propose myself, but i doubt i would be able to run a decent FTP from here for the server. Even a coffee maker would have a better latency than me

Kick/Ban, Change the map to something custom, load/unload a special mod, ect.


Like if people wanted to do that Hyrule map, you have to create a regular lobby, then join the server

After that you have to switch levels using an admin command

My friends and I play l4d all the time.  This includes a lot of brbu members.  We could move our nightly antics to the brb server, but theres no all talk. (Some of them don't want to use vent)  So we always end up hosting localy.  We would use it every day if we could have the ability to put it on all talk or I could.

All talk is necessary.  All the other servers don't even let you choose.  Giving this ability will get people to come play on the brbu server, because it is an item no other public server has if you go by a random server.

If alltalk is a wanted feature I'll try to make a way for a vote to make it so. Keep the ideas coming in people we want you to be playing in our server after all.
EDIT:
An update it seems alltalk is on by default in our server, but just in case I have made it so that anyone can vote for alltalk on the server. type sm_votealltalk and the vote should come up. If there is any problems with this let me know, I'm going to try to make it like rtv is on our TF2 server i.e. you type something into chat and it happens.
