After seeing people RTV very quickly a few times I just wanted to make everyone aware of something, if you RTV to a custom map, please allow around 10 minutes before you try to rtv again.

The reason behind this is when you rtv to a custom, usually a good portion of people are going to need to download the map. If you immediately RTV they will continue to download the previous map for a period of time before they have to start downloading again. If you sit for 5 minutes downloading, then immediately have to start downloading again without even seeing the map, odds are you are going to disconnect.

Just a heads up for everyone, if you rtv to a custom map, please let it run for at least a bit so people can download. A good way to check the number of downloaders is to type 'status' in console, and then check that number against the number of people actually on teams.

The second point I wanted to make is that on at least Tuesday and Friday, please try to seed both servers, I will make sure to tip people off on the second server as to when I am about to restart for FNF/TFT, but its good to have something going in the other server for people who can't immediately get into the event, I know FailMedic, SarcasticSteve, and RedWreck spent all of Friday sitting in the mostly empty second server.

Since the second server is goldrush/dbowl/warpath, its pretty easy to keep full once it gets going, just  heads up to everyone to try to get both going before FNF/TFT. Reserve slots also work on the other server, so we dont need to worry about it being full and not being able to get in.

Best bet is to change the minimum time for an RTV to at least 5 minutes.

Delays forces play time, play time turns into enjoyment, enjoyment ignores RTV's.

Unfortunately theres no setting in the config for 'Minimum Time Delay' Sad

So I felt a general announcement would be best, as its usually the regulars that drive RTVs

This would be best, this also would force some whiners to actually play a map they don't know... But if that's not possible then ettiquete it is. Wink

Not sure about other people, but just loading a map takes a bit for me so rtv is a pain custom map or not.

Hurr, that might be because of your hard drive. Get a faster one, or turn your textures and stuff down; lower rez crap takes less time to load.

edit: Well, I am putting together a link to the Map Pack. But I'm not sure what all to include in it, since most of the original maps in the pack were fail, and we've added a bunch since then. I'll put up a link to the standard maps in a bit. I bet mine will go up before Caff's does.  Big Grin

Nvm, I would not want Caff's pain to be in vain. Also, he won't tell me what to include. Just wait for a link from him in a few hours.

Feeling that, there's some regs who continually RTV. I can understand maybe dislike for the odd map but certain people seem to have a hatred for most of the rotation.

Maybe if we changed the map rotation now and then, people wouldn't get bored and then try to Rock the Vote.  Maybe get rid of a few boring maps.  How about Dustbowl?

+1 for that. Good matches on it are really good, but most of the time I find it's just a bunch of people fucking around and the first team that can manage to get a few people to actually work together damn near steamrolls.

You can have dustbowl when you pry it from my cold dead fingers, map will fill the server and people can at least 'win' it, unlike 2fort

Hurr, I won a match of 2Fort the other day (with 32 slots I might add). The other team had 3 engies, 3 demos, 3 medics, 2 heavies, 2 snipers and 2 pyros. They turtled right from the get go. The match was fucking epic to say the least. I had the highest score that round too, with 237 points.  Tongue

uhh...someone tell me the current rotation. Tongue

without looking at it, get rid of science2, I don't care how much anyone loves it, it fucking kills the server if the server isn't full of regulars.
