1. Go to your saves folder and select a world
2. In that worlds folder, open DIM-1 and delete everything inside
3. Copy all your chunks and paste them into DIM-1. If you dont know what a chunk is, it's a folder thats usually 1 or 2 letters long in alphabetical order (so like folders a b and c)
4. That worlds "nether" will be an exact copy of the world above, but with a red sky and all the nether monsters

Go make a new world, then explore the immediate surroundings under you, probably under some sand. The last 9 worlds I've made to test this have all had a dungeon within ~30 blocks of me just under the surface of the sand, only 1 was hidden under dirt and I had to find it (still within ~30 blocks of me) with MCedit. Found the rest simply by finding the sand that had collapsed into the dungeon.

I made a reusable boat elevator.  A boat left in it just cycles top/bottom/top/bottom etc.
Really nifty for getting to my mines/monster-farm from the surface and back.

I don't know if this is old, but I've been experimenting with pressure pads and TNT and found that TNT will allow gravel to float on the surface.

I have placed a pressure pad over this combination, and it created a very potent combination.

i made a fairly unreliable automatic rail system

you stand on green, cart comes to red. sit in cart, booster comes and takes you away~

4 rings of tracks. put a cart on each. push the cart in the center, itll wind up and spin around.  the plate powers a bend that sends it to the surface. the booster section is 3 rings, same deal as the passenger cart. the carts can fuck up and stop spinning so you might have to reset it once in a while

hope that was clear, probably not. might post my save but it's 30 mb :X

diglett, if you go to the box where you can specify the item's damage amount as opposed to the stack count in INVEdit, and set the item HP for like -30000 HP, you can have infinite tool uses without needing to make stacks of them.


Works for godmode armor too, just set a pair of boots to -30000 and you're invincible, no other armor needed.


Also get 7zip and run your saves through a max compression in bzip format. MC saves are pure text, very compressible.

sick today, fixed up my rail system, works a LOT better now. basically 2 super boosters that run forever and can spit out carts when you step on the plate. will post pics later

I've been meaning to figure out rail stuff... My singleplayer map is currently just a single colonized island and underground stuff, with a boat-elevator to go up and down, but soon I'm going to want to expand outwards.

diglet, don't use an infinite circle booster, use one that moves back and forth instead because they don't run into the issue of stopping - the carts stop eventually if they keep getting accelerated.

Bob's Minecraft Tutorial 2: Auto Minecart Station gives you some methods for building boosters that will work forever without glitching out.
