We are running low - the current period of donations (2 months) to run the server has 1 contributor at $15. I will be fine with paying some of it, but we need at least $50 more (half of the 2 month total) or we are going to start considering stopping the server.

often times people will put a starting amount that they would like to achieve in order to get people to donate and not have the full cost of the servers posted. i was simply making sure, however i asked him in person and the cost of the server per month is 65USD.

yeah, $65/month.  It only needs a single processor to run, but it will start lagging you like crazy if I don't give it more than 1GB of RAM, so I have to keep the VDS (from NFO) at dual CPU with 2GB of ram. All of the VDS options are 1:1 CPU:RAM

As it stands, I have been planning to build a midrange server for myself and the minecraft server may just accelerate the plans just a little bit and I will be able to upgrade my web server beyond what is needed for myself and just use the rest of the resources for Minecraft or whatever I feel like - and costs will drop to $50/month for colocation only (total, which will partially be covered by webhosting).  One time costs for the server won't be cheap, but at least no more sustained rental fees.

Also, let me know if you need hardware, I've got whole computer (CPU,mobo,ram, vidya card) sitting in a bin because I can't figure out whats wrong with it. It used to be my HTPC, then it stopped booting so I replaced the whole shebang with an ION2 board ;x
