So yeah, Valve finally acknowledged that the replay function seems to be randomly uploading corrupted .dmx files (This is why some replays fail to download infinitely) and is now obviously asking for our help to narrow down the cause.

So here's what I need from all of you; Every time you have a replay that fails to download, please for the love of god simply write down the time (I don't even care what timezone, just tell me what one) you got the replay download failed message, how many people are in the server, what map it is, and PM me the info when you're done playing. Seeing as how red is a purpose rented server, I can't get all nerd and slap an strace on the process to get some real info on the problem, so all I can really do is gather as much info as possible to forward to Valve.

Also it would be incredibly helpful if you all were to simply record more replays more often, the more statistical data and logs I have, the more I can give to Valve. Right now the only instances I'm aware of have all been from when the server is full up, but that could just be a statistical anomaly based on how many people are actually capturing replays. It would be nice to know if server population has any bearing on the issue or not.

Also include in your email that all patches should be applied at 12am PST (or 8pm PST), instead of 5pm PST right when everyone leaves the fucking office to go home.

Actually we've come to the conclusion that that's a strategically planned move.


They release bug ridden patch on Friday, gives us the weekend to find all the bugs.

I remember when update day had FUN bugs, level 3 cartspenser, dispenser building spys.

all the through the gate tricks...........

Now all the bugs are just "this doesn't work anymore"

The quality of valves bugs have declined severely and I wish valve would put more time into producing quality bugs in the future

Great success! I got a full time segment that was corrupted last night, as well as the segment immediately prior to the corrupted one that was known-good, and sent it to Jon;
