I've never played any Zelda game, except occasionaly at friend's houses.

I'm with Eschatos but I fall in the category of seeing the Zelda series as being overrated.  Now I respect the series and I won't argue when people state that OOT is one of the best games ever but I don't see what all the "hooplah" is about.

Tragic.....Please do the following, in this order

Plan A)

1) Play A link to the Past
2) Play Link's Awakening
3) Play OoT
4) Windwaker
5) Twilight Princess

Plan B)

1) Go to the nearest cliff
2) Throw Yourself off

I've played Link to the past and OOT and although I did enjoy them I don't understand the massive fanbase that came from a game where the protagonist is as deep as the kiddie pool at your nearest water park.  And there are no cliffs anywhere near me but there is a limestone quarry.  Should I get in my car and head off to it?

I actually liked rewinding time in Majora's Mask, reminded me of Back to The Future. Though I enjoyed OoT, I didn't think it was THAT great. I preferred Windwaker to it, though my favorite was definitely Twilight Princess.  :-\

Yes, thank you! OoT is a great game, but there are much better Zelda games. ^_^

I'm noticing a distinct lack of Majora's Mask love in this thread... it needs moar.

I liked MM's time-rewind mechanic, especially after you got the teleport song. Although I will say gunning for all 20 masks was excessive, considering some of the masks could have been omitted/merged. It was worth it having the Fierce Deity mask for the last fight though.

MM was good fun.  IMO that is.

Point one:

Kiddy? I'm sorry, but if you haven't played und loved kirby games (specially Kirby Superstar) you must turn in your gamer card at the nearest shop.  And Kirby is one series that deserves that moniker.

Don't worry, leave behind your thoughts of guilty by association and play the damn games.  8)

Part Too:

Majora's mask was great not for gameplay, not for bosses, not for masks or mechanics, but due to one thing.

The mood.

Yes, dear jeebus, the mood was great.  Once you add all the timey-wimey cogs into the story as you progress, once you see all the pieces, the despair of people, the lame attempts to survive a motherfreakin' moon crash by people, the pride of that rich lady as the world rumbles one last time, the young couple who choose to die together, the wistful vacant looks of the ranch lady after the girl is kidnapped, the psychological scarring of the kid when she sees her own father transformed into a mummy-monster, the various odd attempts of people to go on living as if nothing's goin' on.

Ah, jeebus, you could smell the doom in the air.
And that's why I liked Majora's mask a lot, even if it wasn't the most fun of all the Zelda games.

Wow, this sounds like a mature zelda game. (Incidentally also the only one I didn't play) Hope it'll get a VC release soon...

Majora's Mask was, and will always be, the best Zelda game.

My favorite, no doubt.

Oot and Majora's Mask were both great for their handle of motif as well as their gameplay. Majora's Mask gets the huge thumbs up for it's much more mature style of telling it though.

Yes, Link's Awakening is by far one of the best Zelda games. SO FUCKING EPIC. I've played through it at least close to 30 times.

My favourite Zelda ever.  Still have the box and manual for it.  That was the best game on my Gameboy for a fucking decade.

LttP is the best zelda i have ever played without a doubt. Followed closely by Links awakening and Ocarina of time. However im feeling a lot of hate towards Zelda II. Though obviusly not one of the best games, i really enjoyed it. I guess why most people didn't like it is cause it strayed too far from the original zelda series. Also, i didn't like majora's mask. The time travel and losing any previous progress you had made, made it a little irritating, and the masks, though creative, i found to be more of an annoyance as well. But these are just my opinions.  Tongue
