Thursday Night Mod Nods

Hey all, the hidden was fun (most of the time) but I don't think good for these nights cuz of the max player caps.  So here is the line up.  I most likely won't be able to take part, so since Vandam has been really good at setting everything up, I'm assuming he's your man this week.

I will be taking a super fun (sarcasm) class all week so I don't lose my license, my job and therefore have to move into a cardboard box

Dystopia would be alright too, but there's a huge learning curve on that shit, so it makes it less of a candidate for mod night.

Just downloaded and tried FoF.  It is fucking insane.  Much more fun than PVK2, and that's saying something.

Just played some FoF and I have to agree with Eschatos, it was heaps of fun.
It might be a bit too easy to get headshots but quick respawns make up for it

I can imagine some epic gold fights, definately recommend some tape-age.

I'm not exactly sure how else you could enjoy this thing.  If I want to play something with awful clunky controls, we can always go do Battlegrounds 2, because at least it's authentic there.

The game is slower paced then most FPSs, but I would never call the controls clunky.  The realistic weapons only enhance the experience for me.  I can without a doubt say that Fistfull of Frags is the most fun Half Life 2 mod I have ever played.

Really, a knife that takes two seconds to swing isn't clunky?  Nor do I see how that's "realistic".  Not to mention the game seems stupidly un-balanced.  It's sort of like, you have a rifle or shotgun and one/two-hit kill a lot, or you're the one getting killed a lot and thusly never get enough money for a good weapon.

I gotta agree with Wedge on this one. Nothing about the actual gameplay is fun for me. Maybe it will be different with our own private server, but for the most part this game kinda sucks balls. The quality of the game is evidenced by the fact that no Dedicated Linux Server exists for it. Headshot detection is buggy as all hell; shooting someone in the crotch from 5 ft with a revolver should not register as a headshot under any circumstances, period.

I'll give a go tomorrow, but I'll probably quit early.  Also, fuck you Versus for your spawn camping earlier today.  D:<

I enjoyed it

The knife is shit for stabbing, but if you throw it, it's a 1 hit kill so its not a shit weapon. Also, the starting guns aren't that much worse than the latter guns. It only makes a big difference if you're a shit shot because they take do more damage but the headshots always kill instantly.

The hit boxes seem a bit off sometimes, especially when someone has blood all over their face but it didn't register as a headshot.

Also, to get more points you don't have to kill people, you get way more points by getting money and protecting people with money. It seemed like you guys who were playing this morning (I think night for you guys) didn't seem to be trying to do the objectives so its no wonder you had shit guns.

I might just like it because its more about quick firefights where everyone dies quickly and the winner runs off with the spoils to horde his cash.

In regards to that, you can start with a rifle if you want and it only takes a few minutes to unlock a shotgun so its not hard to do. Either way I just use the colt navy and upgrade to the peacemaker when I can and that works out fine, I haven't had any problems getting kills with it, it just depends on your style of play.

I have to agree that it's definitely not one of my favorite mods that I've ever played. I understand if shooting/reloading is slow, but just trying to aim with a pistol was like moving it though chilled pudding. Fuck spawning in/on top other people so you can't move and thus die from some asshole spawn-camper. That was really pissing me off. Yeah and spending most of the round just trying to get a shotgun sucked too. I only played deathmatch though so maybe the other mode might be more fun.
