Just picked it up at my local Best Buy for $10. I've played through over half of the single player *campaign* and I played a couple of rounds online.

Pros:
Graphics-It's not like the old one was bad but this one's a lot easier on the eyes. Also theres a lot less repeats of the same character model.
Interface-There's actually a map now and instead of radar you get a relative location of your target which updates every 30sec.  Also you get a full inventory menu and things are generally easier to control.
Online Servers- There's actually a decent amount of servers for this version. Granted that the amount of people playing was still less than 50 when I was on.
Multiplayer- Still as fun even with people I don't know. I love killing innocents and getting away with it(I trust no one).

Cons:
Single player-It's way too easy even on hard. Also there is a lack of a controllable save feature, you only get checkpoints in the form of major objectives. In other words if you fuck up you gotta start the whole mission over(talking to all the people getting all the items).
Weapons- It might just be that I haven't spent enough time with it but the weapon selection seems about the same in terms of  size.
Availability/Pricing- Might be hard to find in stores and is overpriced on steam.
Multiplayer- The rounds are still way too short. Time given each round was not enough to find my quarry most of the time. Hopefully there's an option to change it.

I'll update if I find more stuff. From what I've played it's well worth the upgrade and definately deserves a regular spot on our game calendar somewhere.

Yeah I bought it on a whim at 2am the other day and I agree with everything there.

If you buy it on steam don't bother getting the single player part casue its pointless and not intersting. The voice acting's okay but thats it.

The MP is definately better than the hl1 version and everything plays smoother.

one thing I disagree is that the single player campaign is really easy, except that fucking escort mission. That old bastard dies so easily and those gunmen shoot him first everytime. it took me like 5 goes to get past that.
