I don’t think anybody has seen my on the servers yet – my laptop is being screwy and I hope to have it all settled sometime today or tomorrow. So in the meantime, I’ll be posting my introduction.

The basics; I’m female, 17, live in Labrador, work as a news reporter, and I have a betta fish named Atlas.

As far as being a nerd goes, I’ve got it down pat. I’m a complete bookworm – read the typical fantasy novels, science fiction now and then, and of course some of the classics. Poetry is my forte, though, and so I have to put here – ee cummings is the man. Other things that fit into my awesome nerdship are a love of CLAMP, being a band geek, games, and, yes, roleplay.

Gaming is kind of a new field for me. I’ve always loved them – the thing is, I suck at them. Like, really suck. Most of my childhood was spent playing Nintendo games, and watching my brother beat anything more difficult. We once spent a week in our basement together as he played games and I watched. Lately, though, I’ve been taking gaming into my own hands. I still suck – so bear with me. I’ll be showing my face on the Brb.U servers and clawing my way to a trigger finger, but hey – I’m trying.

Music’s another of my passions. I’m really big into...well, just about anything. Current obsessions include Damien Rice, the Chicago soundtrack, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack (gotta love it).

There’s not much else for me to say, I don’t think. I’m really bad at these, so I should end this off with a drawing.

Fun fact: I've been going out with Tricoden for nearly two years now. c:

Welcome, very welcome.  I had some holy shit moments in your intro so bear with me while I try and cover them.  How do you like being a news reporter?  That was what I was originally going to college for but I got disgusted with the way the current media handles itself and at the same time felt that I didn't have enough talent to rise to the top and try and change things so I decided to save myself a lot of frustration and switched to Finance.  Beta fish are awesome, but are you working yourself up to a cat?  Have you asked your fish if he is really Fontaine?

We have a lot of book lovers here so make sure to check out our book thread and make suggestions.  I'm almost always reading something and after I get through this book and the one coming in the mail I'm going to be out so I need to find some more (although I'm thinking about picking up Atlus Shrugged).  It's totally cool to be a newb here, gaming is unfortunate in that the skill set tends to carry over from game to game.  So most of us seem impossibly good but its just because we are very familiar with gaming from playing for a while.  So don't get discouraged and ask us if you need any tips.  You'll get pretty good soon too and gradually all games will get easier and easier.

The last thing that was the one that made me go wow, and I'm probably mistaken on this, but is Damien Rice the band that Johnny Indovinna from Human Drama is playing with?  Cuz I worked as a PA in LA for a summer for fun and one of the women that I worked with had been in the music industry for a while.  She managed a band called Ghosts and Lions that shared a house with Jane's Addiction and did A&R.  Anyways one of her friends was Johnny Indovinna and he was playing with this new band called Damien something.  They were goth but surprisingly good (I wasn't a big fan of their opening act sex with lurch, lurch was on keyboard).  I went back and checked out his original band and it was also surprisingly good (Human Drama).  Anyways I'm also a big music geek and so are a lot of other people here (especially TDLove and jorge).

Haha - thanks for the welcome.

Working as a news reporter where I live is...well, not like working as a news reporter. This is a fairly small community, with two towns basically connected, and I just cover local events (what's going on with the youth, local drama events, etc.) that are as basic as you're going to get. I'm only there part time as a student reporter, so all the 'juicy' stories go to the full-time staff. They get the thrilling task of sitting through town council meetings and writing about iron ore. Rarely is there ever an exciting story, or big scoop. It's a very relaxed environment (I make my own hours and get paid the same amount of money, sometimes without even writing a story), considering it's a small town independent magazine. We call ourselves a paper though, haha.

As for my betta fish? I currently have three of them - and I asure you, Atlas is not Fontaine. I'm fairly certain Lonan (Irish name xP) is trying to disguise himself as Fontaine. Luckily for me I can see through his lies about rescuing his family. Only one fish per bowl, after all. And - no cat. Just those three and a 20 gallon tank filled with more fish. I live in an apartment, so no cats or dogs allowed, and my mother doesn't allow reptiles or tarantulas because she's inanely afraid of them.

I'll definitely be jumping into the book threads, but that'll have to wait until later. I'm kind of rushing this reply now because I'm going to work in a few minutes (production days, yay, I get to fold and staple papers together. xP) I've got a huge list of great books to read, so I'll likely be tossing that into the mix at some point. And yeah, at this point I suck at anything that's not Trauma Centre or Zelda, but I plan on getting better.

I don't think Damien Rice is what you're thinking of - perhaps it's Damien Youth? Damien Rice is an Irish indie singer/songwriter, and far from the different groups and such you're describing. d:

I have two in little octagonal tanks, if you press the sides together they butt up against the glass trying to kill one another.

Since you live in an apartment, you ever consider one of these?

It's the fish that comes out before the release of the actual fish.

Beta fish are hardy as hell too.  I knew a guy that owned one, he wasn't the most responsible person in the world which is probably why he got one.  He'd forget to feed it or spill beer in its tank.  The fish would lived through anything.
