Planetside Saturday - 9/16

This Saturday will be the organized event whether or not I have my card. If you have not already downloaded the installer, you can get it here and create a temp 14 day account. I think these accounts are loop holes and sometimes they will catch them and you will get 'suspended' as Eschatos did tonight (I dont think he did anything else wrong).

To make sure you don't accidentally speed hack and that the game runs stable, run the launchpad.exe and if necessary planetside.exe in compatibility mode for win98 or XP. If you have an AMD dual core processor, get this timer-fix. And if you have a QUAD CORE processor, when you start the game, alt tab out before you move at all and set the exe to single core affinity.

Armored Assault 1 (2 pts)
Armored Assault 2 (1 pt)
Engineer (3 pts)

If you have any points left over I recommend the following
Medium Assault (2 pts)

Any remaining points are yours to spend, since you have a fresh character for the first 7 days you can forget and relearn certs as often as you want, after that point you may forget a cert every 4 hours, or forget everything and that is on a 24 hour timer I believe.

I recommend that prior to Saturday anyone who wishes to participate download and get familiar with the controls and the User Interface, the game can be extremely daunting to newbies and get ready to die a lot. We will be running an organized tank column of Magriders (oh Im the driver in that little pic on the right). You can read a tactics guide here.


This is how things will generally work, there will be a fallback way point somewhere on the map, we go to the battle fight, if you get to less than 33% health you bail out, let me know when you bail out, if enough people fall back Ill call a general fall back to the designated way point. Who ever is the gunner in the lead tank (probably atom) will also be calling out targets to focus fire on.

If everyone listens and follows tactics you are in for an absolute blast, the more people that show up the better.


Addendum: Its only been two days of playing, and Ive received 4 'hate-tells' from people pissed off I killed them, hopefully you'll get lucky and receive one yourself, here my old collage of hate...

Huxley makes all PS players sad pandas. The thing about PS is that its a persistent world that's all PvP, huxley is all instanced combat, so when you fight its just your group against an enemy group, planetside will have global tactics and interference, the outcome of a fight on a different part of the world will affect the fight you are in on a different part of the world.

All instanced combat amounts to is that you are paying for a second life waiting room before you go into your TF2 server. The best way to describe planetside would be if you put tabula rasa, tribes, and battlefield into a blender and put it on puree.

As I said before, PS is the only one who does this sort of thing. Everything else finagles around and just makes a glorified FPS while calling it an MMO.

Kinda like how Shattered Galaxy is the only MMORTS out there. Everything else that claims to be an MMORTS just prances around the issue of MMO-esque play by creating 'rooms'.

Just do the training missions and that'll get you to rank 4 which is enough for the certs Caff wants.


Also I jinxed myself by saying my 2nd account was lucky, it was just banned. The whole account too! It was just the character last time.

Good news is my 1st account is now unbanned, so I can use that one now

You can get enough points for all those certs by just trying out most of the weapons/vehicles.  Just go to the firing range/VR and equip everything and get in every vehicle.  You get free xp every time.  That'll take you up to battle rank 4.

I'm already at BR 4 I think, or level 4 or whatever.  It only gives me 3 points anyways.  I can get a MAX suit now if I want though.

No you should ahve a lot more than 3 points, if you forget everything you should have enough for UNIMAX which lets you get all 3
