Finally got around to modding my psp, is there any good games and apps out there?

I have Cave story, Patapon, Starwars BF2, and Lumines.

Playing PS1 games on it?  I mean really, half the good games on it are ports of something anyways (Disgaea, FFT, Valkrie Profile, Star Ocean, Riviera).  I guess there's a few neat original games, Crush in particular.  Echochrome is pretty neat if you don't have a PS3 too.  My boyfriend likes the Metal Gear Ac!d games.  It's an ok system for RPG's and tactics games, and I guess miniaturized versions of Sony properties if you're into those (Ratchet and Clank, God of War, etc.)

Beats, E3, Gunpey, LocoRoco and Space Invaders Extreme are all pretty cool. God Of War is fucking ace if you're into the series. I enjoyed the Harvey Birdman game. It played in the Phoenix Wright style and if you were feeling the show they captured the humour just right, basically just playing through a long episode. And Outrun 2006 was superb.

In terms of apps, there's a nice .cbr/.cbz reader the name of which I forget and a pretty nifty sequencer called PSP-Rhythm, if you're into that sort of thing. Oh and emulators for most things.

Oh thank god, I was about to Blues-esque rage if no one mentioned Monster Hunter. Though it does kinda suck without friends to play it with.

As for game suggestions I have only one. Gitaroo Man Lives. BUY IT.

How can you argue with a black guy in a disco bee outfit playing a horn. You can't.

I find the PS2 version a lot easier to play with the larger screen, but if you can't play it on that, then yes, you must get this game.

i had the GBA version of Riviera, one of my bvest games ever.

I don't have a PSP now, but my brother is ahuge fan of the Monster Hunter serie, but you must have someone else to play with or you'll get bored after a while

The game i'm enjoying on it now is "Prinny, can i really be the hero?" (Prinny, ore ga shujinko de iindesuka if you want to find it, still not released on the US). A nice 2D plataformer on the world of Disgaea. They give you 1000 lives to clear the game, because they know it's hard as hell, is actually one of the hardest platformers i've ever played (after Battletoads). And if you've played any of the Disgaea titles before, you'll like the humor on it

I just remembered, Monster Hunter Wii is coming out sometime in 2009 with online play. So if you have a Wii you can just hold out for that. It's more likely than knowing people with a PSP.

Through the international language of stabbing a Rathalos in the face.

Also my buttons say "ZA WARUDO" 'cause of Weegee's Final Smash.

I'm looking into buying a PSP. Good games and is the PSP-3000 worth it?

The 3000 is the one with no UMD drive right?

Personally I think that thing is a waste of money, you are going to mod the other one anyway and maybe use the UMD drive a handful of times. The good thing is that the new model will drive down the price of the older units so you should be able to pick one up for a cheaper price.

Nope, 3000 is the latest of the older models with the UMD (whose price has been driven down as you said Smile). Go is the new one. I just got one as well, but I'm holding out on buying a lot of games till October 1st (when Sony promised to make all past PSP games downloadable) Since I don't want to pay $60+ for Portable Ops, Ac!d Powered Up and and all that jazz. Plus I have all the PSOne classics to keep me amused: Final Fantasy 7, Suidoken, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Symphony of the Night, Resident Evil and soon Metal Gear Solid on one handheld is just too awesome ;3

PSP-3000 has a scanlines issue which Sony said they won't ever fix. So go for an older one if you're getting one. PS since I know you own a PS3 seabreeze remote play is fucking sweet.

I've thought about going with an older one for hackability since they haven't hacked the 3000 yet. Even though they recently made a lot of progress.

I kinda regret getting a slim. It feels so cheap and plastic-y, and the speakers are shit compared to my phat. Sad
