PS...Fridays - REBOOT 5/15 - Be There

Yes, I know I'm making this post a ways out, but I want people to be able to plan ahead and resub, download the trial, or get familiar with it before the 15th so we can hopefully have a large turn out. The previous contests will still apply, 20 people or more and I'm giving away a game on steam, 15 or more and Atom is giving away a smaller prize.

This time around however, we will be playing as New Conglomerate (The Blue/Gold guys, aka NC) instead of Vanu. The main reason for this being that Vanu have become overpopulated after a buff and the NC have the least number of people. Being in the minority is when PS is the most fun and it greatly facilitates the style of play that we have built over the past few months.

Playing the NC is modestly different from playing Vanu, but the overall game is still the same. All NC-specific weapons do more damage at a slower rate of fire, so make sure every shot counts. I'll highlight a few big differences that we'll encounter playing, and how to adjust.


AV - Phoenix - This is a one shot rocket that is camera guided, you steer it toward the target, when firing you are completely vulnerable, so make sure you are in a safe place, always fire behind some kind of cover. The phoenix does the same damage as a decimator, when used in conjunction from a covered position these can be more deadly than lancers. PROTIP: If you miss, immediately detonate the missile, it has a large splash area, for extra lulz, 6 shots will insta-gib a sniper and you can shoot at them from behind cover.

HA - Jackhammer - boom, boom, dead, seriously people die that fast, use at close-point blank only, tripple shot snipers for extra lulz

MA - Gauss - Fire in single shots as if it was a semi-auto rifle to maintain accuracy, IMO this is the best MA rifle in the game

Tank - Vanguard - 1 shots infantry, and does massive damage to any vehicle, it also has the most armor of any of the main tanks

Bus - It can actually shoot back at aircraft

MAX - Scattercannon MAX (aka Splatmax) - Same as the jackhammer, except one boom instead of 2, seriously...point blank it one shots people


Bubble Tactics:

- One person will scout up to see targets below a hill, they will then designate a target, and everyone will fire homing in on that target
- One person who has darklight must always maintain watch for cloakers and aircraft, as the group is completely vulnerable when firing
- In the event of air/cloaker attack, everyone must pre-detonate their missile and then face the threat


There will be more than just bubbles, we're (Major, myself, beetee, and shadow) working on some other fun ideas and things to do, especially in the neighborhood of fucking with the other two factions, which is much easier when you are the low population.

Fun in this game increases exponentially with the more people that join up so I hope to see more of the people that stated they were interested in the initial thread to come out, the game is FREE, but you are restricted to 14 days after which you will have to start all over again. If you get "suspended" or banned since the trial accounts are loopholes just make another one. Conversely you can spend $20 to pick up the game at direct2drive, which comes with a free month, this allows you to keep your character instead of having to re-level someone every 2 weeks.

If you have issues running the game, make sure launchpad.exe and planetside.exe are both bring run in Win95 Compatibility mode

Yea it basically comes down to whether or not another crisis happens to me before then, which I'm not ruling out.  I did almost hit an old lady today going to work  :-\

how does changing factions hurt us?  Do you guys have taxi slaves, or a max yet?  I don't see us doing much without a phantasam and it just isn't fun when Major Angry isn't jumping over base walls and trying to take care of biz him self.

All of the vets already have characters leveled over 15 at least, Major actually played NC before he ever played Vanu, both of his characters are above BR20 and his main is also CR5.

My main NC is 21, Shadow is like 14 or 15, and beetee is also 25. Given the XP bonuses, ranks will come quite quickly, I have my character set up to do bubbles and major can still run the phantasm.

Most of the roles we had with people who played VS don't require highly leveled characters, all you need is enough to get AV/MA/Rexo, which you already have with like BR2, anything else on top of that is a bonus.

Phoenix is actually a tad easier to hit planes with, if they are coming in on an attack run and 3 people shoot its an almost guaranteed kill.

Other than that, skyguard is common pool for all empires, and the sparrow's missles do not miss. Unlike the starfire you hover the cursor over for about 0.25sec before the max locks on, from that point on, any missile you fire is almost a guaranteed hit. They also have a much longer range for lock on than the starfire.

[/quote]My two NC characters are BR9 and 6, iirc. I never whored, it took me forever to get to BR20 as VS, nevermind the few days I played as NC.

Also, NC have more trouble shooting at planes with their infantry (no lancer), but have a Fire-and-Forget AA MAX which is the bane of every pilot's existence. THEY CHASE YOU FOR FUCKING EVER
