Ok, this has been happening for about 2 or 3 days now.

Whenever I'll put my computer to sleep, it will immediately wake up as soon as it gets in standby mode.

I've done some digging, and I've confirmed that Steam is the program causing it to wake up.

Any ideas why this is happening?

It's not steam, but this kinda happens at random sometimes.
steam shouldn't be
if you've done some digging, you would think the digging would have revealed a solution
you sure it isn't something else, i put my computer into standby all the time and steam doesnt do anything.

I'm sure. When I turned off steam, but left everything else on, my computer would go to sleep.
try turning off steam?

try it to make sure your mouse or keyboard isnt doing it

Just turn the computer off, standby is a waste of time.

Standby lets you start your computer back up in about 2 seconds with all of your programs loaded as if you hadn't left the computer, wouldn't really call that a waste of time.

May help, dunno.

I am about to suggest something retarded which should be refuted immediately.

Go into your compie's BIOS and look for NIC network interface card settings.  Tell it to "not allow NIC to wake up computer".

... I told you it was a dumb idea.

so dumb... it just might work
You're crazy... crazy like a fox.
Update: Ok, so it's not steam, as a matter of fact, it's not a program.

It's just waking up for no apparent reason. It's never done this before, I don't even have anything running.

Ok, now it's fine.

Computer why do you haaaate me D:

I was about to suggest that same...

Also, sleep mode is lame.

Didn't I mention in another thread that I can't access my BIOS?

lol nvm
How can you not access your BIOS?  Also, in any case, you shouldn't mess with your connection while connected to steam.  Half the time when you come back and it connects again, you won't be able to use the unlocks.

It's part of HP's plan to make a computer idiot-proof.
The only time I've had this problem is when I had a faulty switch sensing that my computer was closed. It would think the computer had opened up again and would wake up, sometimes in my backpack for maximum heat generation and battery wear-and-tear.
