You knew how Kor has his Team Fortress, Caff has his Planetside, J-Master has his Starcraft, Wedge has his Chronotrigger, but did you know about Rummy and his Natural Selection?

Oh, it's on like Robotron.

Thinking about getting the black armor, though they've been waffling about Steam compatibility.

edit: I would say go for the black armor anyways, do you really want to get spammed with invites to l4d/tf2/mod of the week so much that you would sacrifice that black armor and being able to play in the alpha this summer for steamworks?
What is this Black Armor business?

The first one was one of the best HL1 mods to come out, hasn't this been in development for a long while and the former mod team is dragging their feet with it?

They've been working on it for a while, but mod was dead in the water until they got investors to pour some money into it several months ago afaik.

I could see Valve buying them up like they bought the people doing Left4Dead

I'm not sure how much Valve wants to buy them up when they ditched Source for NS2 to make their own engine.  Which I fully support actually.

Valve steals their engine and makes it Source-2

[/quote]This. The procedurally generated environmental effects alone would make this worthwhile.

Fixed that for ya Tongue  FR31NS basically said F it after a while of playing that patch.  All of the changes, not to mention Wombat (Combat) mode ended up basically catering to all the CS fanboys at the time and dumped any actual strategy right out the window.  With res for kill, it basically let a good fade rape everyone (and even if you killed him he had enough res to come right back), and on the marine side, they teched up at retardedly quick paces just with kills.  It became about getting kills rather than strategic res management and holding key points.  I'll still buy the special version, and hope that the extras will transfer when I buy the steam version (or hopefully they'll have crossover between the two).
yeah, I remember seeing fades with 3 deaths and well over 100 kills :Smile

f fades

also that is an awesome-looking onos.

Zen of Sudoku is a Sudoku based computer game developed by Charlie Cleveland of Unknown Worlds Entertainment and released on June 20, 2006. Although the casual games market is not the intended direction of Unknown Worlds, or of Cleveland, Zen of Sudoku was produced in order to generate revenue towards funding Natural Selection 2, a sequel to the original Natural Selection modification for Half-Life. Cleveland cites casual games development as a "last option" for funding this sequel, having been unwilling to sacrifice control of the company to external investors.

Gotta respect him cashing in on the casual/popcap market in order to fund his true passion. Even if it takes a longer, he's made a great run at being a self-sufficient indie developer trying to make the game he wants to make.

Combat mode was the beginning of the end of NS for me, I played it for a few months before trailing off into the hype before WoW beta, so I didn't stick around for that res for kill BS. I tried playing a bit last night, but found my reflexes to be WAY off for how the netcode and hit prediction work in that old engine. Damn FBAs (fast biting aliens).

Exactly, rummy.  Hopefully NS2 is a bit different.  The great thing about things before RFK but after ZOMG marines win every round was that good players contributed a lot, but their domination was tempered and required team work to let them shine.  You couldn't just rambo your way to victory unless the other team was god awful.
So is this worth throwing money at, hoping that there's a STEAM-compatible version thrown in? Because otherwise I doubt I'd play it much. I mean, I'd end up getting the special armor one but still, no play time == not even worth the low-priced one.

I don't know, Atom. I played a ton out of the original, probably more than I played pre-shield counter-strike and/or pre-source day-of-defeat. So, I pre-ordered armor del negro.
