APB first official trailer

Looks cool. Character creator is supposed to be pretty epic.
By hundreds of players to they mean "Hundreds of Players" or "Hundreds of Playa'z"  ???
I did not know this existed, but now I am intrigued.
Been keeping an eye on this for awhile. Crackdown was a fantastic game, so I'm looking forward to this.
Potentially this could be the next Planetside.  *crosses fingers*

WRONG.  It will support 100 players per map, which isn't bad, but still not Planetside.  Just face it, nobody has the balls to try something like PS anymore =/.

Also, this isn't 'the next PS' since PS is sci-fi. Large-scale current-era shooters have been done. Not quite as beat-to-death as WW2. Yet.

At least you have an obvious goal in this game. In PS, you capture shit...why?

Just to capture shit. Don't get me wrong..just capturing shit is fun and all, but give them some damn credit..nothing like this has ever been done much less tried in the console world.
For some reason I double posted and I can't delete the post? So here is the edit:

PS has persistent worlds.  If APB does too I'll probably get it.  If it is just log on to someone's map and keep some personal stats I don't think that would be nearly as fun.  What makes PS great is your effects on the environment, not the environments effects on you.

Scotty removed it because he thought it was pointless.
cbre88x is right, PS has no end-game, and that hurt the game more than bugs, exploits, or hackers ever could.

In comparing it to another FPS game, your team rapes in say dustbowl, the map changes, that victory is forever locked away, whether it be an end of map screenshot, a video, or a memory.

In planetside you fight hours and hours over a base, take it, log off for the night, when you come back everything you worked for has been completely undone.

There *WAS* a time in PS where gains/losses were real, for a time they removed home continents, you have NO direct links out of your sanc, if you lost all the land you held you could hack any base with a link from your sanc...but good luck with that. I remember there were 3 "groups" of 3 continents each empire wanted to hold due to their ease of defense.

Amerish-Solsar-Searhus (ASS) - most easily defended because it has one less warp-gate link (Searhus is the only cont with 3), terrain is also easily held, the NC kept this with an iron fist for fucking MONTHS, we had multi-day campaigns to try to take it from, and at one point the TR and VS declared a fucking cease fire trying to unseat them.

Hossin - Oshur (old, non-shit) - Esamir (HOE) - Held mostly by the Vanu, second most easily defended, Oshur was the ultimate fallback if we got hemmed in

Forseral - Ishundar - Ceryshen - (FIC) - Held mostly by the TR, cery sucks balls to fight on, and Ishundar has always been a bitch for driving across.

Cyssor - Battle cont, hard to defend, hard to keep due to its sheer size, since it was so often contested we called it 'Cyssor Side'

This was before the time of BFRs and it was the height of the 'leet fits', smaller outfits of 20 - 30 people that would go around putting out fires, if you hacked a continent, you were almost guaranteed that within 5 - 8 minutes a group of the best players in the game was going to come to lay the smackdown on your sorry ass for even thinking about it.

RIP - Team TACO, Serious Gamers, 1st Calvary Midget Mobile, KAAOS, LXG

The one thing they talked about adding for the longest time was Sanctuary Strikes, in all 5 years of PS I can only think of a handful of times that an empire got completely sanc-locked, and a battle over it would have been quite epic. Ive never really sat down to think about it much, but if you took PS's model as it currently is and improved on it by adding some more lasting things and end-game scenarios it could be really epic.
and nerf the fucking MCG a little

You know this is a PC only game, right?

And please explain to me the "obvious goal".  As far as I can tell it's going around and doing random GTA stuff, then the other people go around and trying to stop you from doing that stuff.  No fucking MMO has a "goal", Planetside just suffered moreso because there wasn't really any of the usual "progression" towards the non existent goal.

Welkin is just a reskin for azns with probably a lot more grind and pay items.  It's hard to call it ambitious when they bought the PS source to use as a base for it.
One thing I like about APB is you can arrest other players if you're a cop. I'm curious to see what they'd do for the criminal side. Executions maybe?

When did they change platforms?
I think it's always been PC. Could be wrong.
