This Wednesday I'd like to have a mini-training session for any of the new(er) people that have joined us on how to better use planes in planetside. I know a few of you have experimented with flying the various planes in planetside, so this Wednesday at ~8:30cst we will have a training session for anyone who wishes to learn how to fly. Below I put in a short mini-guide on the various planes.

Flight Training:
Air Cav Scout (Mosquito) - Required - 3
Air Cav Assault (Reaver) - Optional (Highly Rec'd) - 2 (After Skeeter)
Air Cav Interceptor (Wasp) - Optional - 2 (After Skeeter)
Air Support (Lib/Vulture/Gal/Lode) - Optional - 3 (Vulture only w/Bomber Ace Silver)
Galaxy Gunship (Gal Gunship) - Optional - 2 (After Support)
Phantasm - 3 (After Infiltrator)

Controlling Aircraft:
Spacebar - Afterburner (Lib switches to bomber camera)
WASD - Same as grunting or other vehicles
E/C - Elevate, Desend
Q - Autopilot Full speed
1 - 0 - Autopilot 10% - 100%

Most aircraft are highly mobile and they are THE BEST way to get from point A to point B in planetside, and I would encourage everyone once you hit roughly around BR14+ to have one aircraft certed, either Air Support or Mosquito whatever your preference leans toward, if you have a cloaker character you should get phantasm or mosquito.

Mosquito - kill infantry, light vehicles, other aircraft
Reaver - Kill Maxes (AA), vehicles, and anything else that moves (also a moderate dog fighter)
Wasp - Made specifically for dogfights, missiles lock on, the nose gun chews up air, do not engage ground targets
Liberator - the A10 warthog of planetside, bomb shit, nosegun tanks, and prey you don't get caught by other aircraft, if you beat a light aircraft in a dogfight they should probably decert and go cry in a corner in shame
Vulture - A10 w/afterburners and better vehicle bombs (do not do anti-infantry though)

Activities will include maneuvering through trees, learning to adjust your sensitivity, and making attack runs on vehicles and infantry.

For this FRIDAY, we will start activities early since its a US Holiday, I plan on coming on line maybe around 4 or 5 cst, battles permitting we will build on what we did Monday night and do a liberator swarm and/or our usual hot drop shenanigans.

My contest for a group of 20 is STILL on, so make sure you come out at 7pm CST sharp Smile
- If I am not there and we hit 20 a screenshot will be required as proof

Day: FRIDAY
Time: 7pm cst (or earlier)

If you make a character please post their in game name here

Fun in this game increases exponentially with the more people that join up so I hope to see more of the people that stated they were interested in the initial thread to come out, the game is FREE, but you are restricted to 14 days after which you will have to start all over again. If you get "suspended" or banned since the trial accounts are loopholes just make another one. Conversely you can spend $20 to pick up the game at direct2drive, which comes with a free month, this allows you to keep your character instead of having to re-level someone every 2 weeks.

TRIAL INSTALLER
(If this site is not working let me know, it was down for maintenance last Sunday)

Remember, the trials sometimes will RANDOMLY suspended you, just a heads up.

If you have issues running the game, make sure launchpad.exe and planetside.exe are both bring run in Win95 Compatibility mode

I wish I could play. D:
I'm good for Wednesday, and may be around Friday.  I already have Light Scout, and could drop something like basic Hacking to free up some points.  (I'd probably have around 4 then.)  Or better yet, ditch Light Scout as well as Hacking, then load up on air certs.
Will be there for Wednesday, might not for the weekend. I've been waiting to have a whole reaver/wasp squad to hit the skies.

I dont know how much actual fighting we'll do, this is going to mostly be training wheels, ie - the vets will run around on the ground and you will try to make strafing runs, or dogfights amongst ourselves on a locked continent

If we get done with it or if the fights comes to us, then we can be worried
looking forward to it regardless, flying is fun
geez, 1 successful bombing run and you're gonna turn us into skeeter faggots.

oh God..4 flying V's of reavers...oh man..

where do I sign up?
I'll probably be there for both. I've got 7 floater certs on my main now, currently they're in ATV, Air Support & Fortification Engineering (to give us AA spits and wall turrets, and to double repair rate). I can change those as needed, I'll try to decert so that they're free since I fucked up and used my respec already on that character.

Also, not to contradict you but the Wasp, in groups of 4+, tears up ground targets through sheer ROF on the nosegun. I had some serious problems the other night when we were Flailing because I had a group hunting me every time I spawned.
should be there friday. I swear I'll be ready.
my desktop died right before i moved, but i guess my father bought a new computer so i might be inheriting a one or two year old computer, so hopefully i will be able to join in next week.

Obviously won't be able to play tf2 with it, but it would be nice to get some planetside action in on a tiny screen.

It's not a laptop that my father thought was suitable to write reports on and nothing else...
As Val can attest, I suck at piloting a bomber. I can gunship it, but not fly it in such a fashion that my bomber can actually hit anything (I get shot down first >_<). I'll keep Air Support certed for now, though, and will just drop it for Air Cav if needs be. I'm holding onto Fortification Engineering, it's just way too much fun. If I can get BR23 by Friday I'll swap ATV for Air Cav Assault and fly a Reaver, although I used to suck at that too. Skeeter I can do though.
Sorry I missed tonight I was getting drunk at BJ's Brewhouse.
