EVO 2k9 is streaming the Street Fighter IV Semi-Finals right now and it is the only time I have enjoyed watching video games. The crowd is crazy and there are all kinds of never before seen techniques being thrown out, and Street Fighter IV doesn't end up being the same 3 characters like Third Strike. It is more like a Vegas prize fight than a game tournament. I'm hoping they give Tekken 6 some showtime tomorrow plus there will be some Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Anyone else watching?
Already posted about it in the SF4 PC thread. Good stuff so far, looking forward to downloading the HD vids from IGN next week. I leech off my buddy's Insider account.

I even searched too and still some how missed it.  ???
I'm watching right now. It's pretty cool, but I haven't played any SF4 yet so I don't know most of the new systems/characters.
I think a Dhalsim player will win this tournament.

I'd personally pulling for that Puerto Rican Boxer player.

Does anyone know how the 5 on 5 will work?
it's elimination, first person on team a fights first person on team b, whoever wins fights the next person on the opposing team until one team has no members left.

it's going to be either daigo, dan from japan or justin wong. stream has frozen for now though. :/

Both Dhalsim's got knocked out.  THREE Akuma's in the finals (Ed Ma's is sexy), Daigo and his partner with Ryu's, Justin Wong with Rufus, the Puerto Rican guy with Boxer, and I dunno who the 8th is.  Daigo is so absurdly technical and dominating I don't think anyone can beat him, he's up against Justin Wong first tomorrow.

Daigo was far better on SF 3s, here he just spams hadoukens (just like he used to do on SFIIT) and when he's got the chance, he performs some easy to do but effective combos. I know that Daigo has mastered the Focus Attack but meh, for what i've seen he plays just like all the Ryus on Championship mode.

What Daigo is really good at is waiting, he usually lets his oponent to attack and then, with great timing he counterattacks
Yeah that's what I mean.  Daigo is incredibly boring to watch in SF IV, but he's so technically proficient I doubt anyone can break him.

He is the Tim Duncan of fighting games.
Every time I tried to watch, including when they were supposedly showing the HDR semis, all I would see is the frigging commentators yammering on about technical problems... Seemed kind of odd that they didn't just take the cameras and show us something else. Confused

Saw some SFIV matches on Friday when I was at work, but that's about it.
Vongore, if you think he's anything like the Ryu players on XBL I'm sorry but you're stupid. Yes, he uses basic strategy. But the thing is, he is ALWAYS calm, his execution, pokes, and reaction time is leagues above any XBL player. I'd like to see any XBL player punish Justin Wong's lightning fast Rufus dive-kicks ON reaction. Not from predicting it, he did it on reaction.

Besides, any XBL player would crack under the pressure of being at a tournament as big as EVO. And Daigo is STILL not used to how loud and excited the SF tournament scene is here.

Daigo entered the HD Remix tournament (and it was his first time ever playing that game, he only played Super Turbo which is way different than HDR.) He got knocked out in the first round because he tried out Guile, but then he immediately switched to Ryu in the losers brackets and made it to the last round of semi-finals before gettting knocked out.

This, i'm not saying he isn't a good player, and hell, i play SF since SFII and i know what's it to be on a tournament. I never said i could beat UmeDa easily, being patient and counterattacking with timing is really hard to pull, especially on a fast paced game like this, and even more difficult against an unexpecte fighter like Rufus
