First the description, I have ventrilo on, no other applications open, then I run Planetside. Game loads fine able to run around shoot people etc, but randomly the screen will freeze for a second, then go completely black and I get an error that shows up on the bottom right saying "Windows is attempting to repair/correct visual image", which always fails. I end up having to ctrl-alt-del and close task on that and the game itself.
Planetside has been set to run in Win95 compatibility, with visual themes, desktop composition and display scaling on high DPI settings disabled, and run as an administrator. Both the quicklaunch icon and the .exe file in the planetside directory are set up the same way. Early this morning I did a reinstall to make sure that wasn't the issue, repatched etc. Same crash happens. Video drivers were updated last night. Somewhere I read that a service called superfetching has been known to cause issues, that has been disabled/enabled to make sure, it has had no known effect. Windows Vista has been fully updated as well.
Hardware is as follows:
Asus CM5570
Windows Vista 64bit
NVIDIA GeForce G100 512mb
6 gig ram
2.33 core2 quad
Realtek High Definition Audio (onboard)
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.. so long as it doesn't involve installing XP. I don't have it.
