Since we got a handful of people playing SF4 now, thought we could make things interesting and make a league out of it.

How it works:

Whoever is in the league will have to play a single match against another member.  Points are rewarded depending on how you win and then players/members are ranked by said points.  Assorted tournaments will reward winners with bonus points and at the end of the league a "Championship" tournament will be held to determine overall champ.  Awards will also be given out to first place of the league at the end of the "season" and some other awards.

How are points issued?  Here is my initial thought on that:

Winning a round gets you +10
Winning first two rounds (or a completion) +5.
A perfect gets you +10
Finishing an opponent with a ultra or a super gets you +5
Cheaping someone gets you -5

So for example:  I play versus and he beats me two rounds in a row, finishing me in the last round with an ultra.  He gets +20 for the two rounds, +5 for the completion, and +5 for the ultra finish in the second round.  So he finishes the day with 30 points.

Let me know what you guys think and what should be changed.  I know connectivity might be an issue but thats why I thought one fight a week would work so that it would leave those with less flexible schedules to find time.

Participants:

Tragic Hero
Versus
Fail Rose
Squishy
K2
Trace
SWPM

Squishy is back!
I approve.
God damnit I need this gaaaaaaaaame DBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin:
I'd want to do this but for some reason I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this.

"Single match."  That's per day?  If I play X and Y and get 10 points vs. X and 10 points vs. Y, would I then have 20 points for that day?  If I play four matches in a row vs. X, would I only count one of them?

Sorry if i was a bit vague.  Its one scheduled fight Per Week.  So if I may make a fake schedule

Week 1 starting 8/9/2009

Versus vs Pig Mask
Fail versus Tragic
Ain vs Squishy

Versus won round 1, pig mask won round 2 and versus won round 3.
Fail loses two rounds in a row and gets perfected the second round.
Squishy wins 2 rounds in a row, both by perfect.

Leader board for the week:

Squishy 45 points (+20 for winning two rounds, +5 for winning two in a row, +20 for each round won perfectly)
Tragic 35 (+20 for winning two rounds, +5 for winning two in a row, +10 for one perfect round)
Versus 20 (+20 for winning two rounds)
Pig Mask (+10 for winning one round)
Fail 0 (for not winning any rounds)
Ain 0 (for not winning any rounds)

Then next week someone will be scheduled against someone else and so forth, until the "season" is over.
don' overestimate my skills now tragic, even if it is just a demonstration :p

I'll still take chip damage or miss one of my links or something.
+1'd, that's what I needed.  Sign me up.  Also, my performance in the example is accurately portrayed.
I volunteer to get my ass kicked. One question: would the +5 completion still be added if you lost the first round but won the next two?

Negative.  Think of it as if you were playing arcade and got the completion bonus.  You don't get it for winning two in a row after the first lost.  Guess I should have specified the first two rounds and not two in a  row Tongue
I play yous on 360 =<
Apparently I'm not cool enough for this  :'(

Why aren't you cool enough for this?  I'll count you in if you like Smile
No you can't sadly.
I'm fairly sure I'm cool enough for this  :-\

Lol

But yeah, not sure how good I'll be at that, but I'd love to participate anyways. Someday you'll marvel at my flamboyant Spanish skills  :-*
Well since we got a good amount of numbers so we could kick things off.

Starting the week of the 24th of August I will hold the Saikyo! Tournament.  This tournament will kick off the season of our BRB shoryuken league and will give everyone (sort of) an even start to the beginning of things.

Saikyo! Tournament will be a tournament where everyone has to play as Dan.  First place will get the Saikyo! Cup and +20 points, second place gets +10 points and 3rd place will get +5 points.  The week after the tournament I plan to start the season.

So there is 2 more weeks to get your name in if you want to participate.  But once it starts I will not be adding anymore members.  So practice up on your Dan Hibiki and may the best Dan win.

I suggest an amendment to the rules because this will apparently be a problem on my end.

Suggestion:  "-5 to you if your game crashes during a match.  This would not be incurred if a match concluded with a definite outcome."

My PC runs SFIV fine, but I've had 3+ occurrances with BRB people where my game crashed just as I was defeated.  Usually an Ultra animation was finishing up.
Fuck, I have an awesome Dan picture to post here, but danbooru's down for maintenance right now. Sad

Instead, I will post this:

Ah yes, connectivity issues.  Thats why I went with one fight a week.  So that if one day members are getting bad connections against each other they had 6 more days to make up the match.  And since we are all friends here we could come to an agreement on how a match would have ended or if the need to play another match is necessary.  We will figure it out down the line.
God Dan needs a roll in SF IV.

Also addendum to rules.  You get +1 points for an uninterrupted standing taunt, +5 points for performing the Legendary Taunt, and +5 more points for hitting with the Ultra from the Legendary Taunt.

Also video blog of Japanese guy playing Dan a lot.  It's so depressing to watch him totally dominate someone and then lose in seconds because Dan's (and a lot of the console characters) damage output is a joke compared to the main characters.  But then it's totally awesome when he wins.  Oh and Japanese streaming video quality is amazing.
