I'm running L4D and TF2 with a PNY Vertuo Geforce Nvidia 7300GT on an XP machine with 3 gigs of RAM. It's doing a pretty good job for these Valve Games, which are really all that I play. So, with L4D2 and such should I think about ditching this card and upgrading soon?
its hard to say for a game that isn't out yet.
i doubt it though
It really depends on what resolution (and other settings) you're running those games at. If it runs your games at a level you're satisfied with, there's no real reason to upgrade. You can always upgrade after L4D2 comes out, and by then prices may drop somewhat.

This.

It's definitely not worth buying preemptively... always work with what you have, and if you dont like it THEN buy... every few months theres something bigger and better... meaning that nice card you are looking at today will be much cheaper
processor is a big deal with source games, a nicer video card doesnt mean shit if your cpu sucks

Even if they up the graphics a bit (doubtful), it's still Source.  CPU>GPU in this case.  If you pimp your GPU, your CPU might still be the bottleneck.

Also, if you get passable performance now, and want to upgrade for a specific game in the future, hold off and spend the money when the game comes out. You'll get more bang for your buck.
ATI is releasing the 5000 series at the end of the month. Expect them and pricecuts for... everything else, Nvidia and ATI.
