Ever since I got a new computer, I kept on crashing for some odd reason on Source games. So far, it seems that way since I can play SFIV without any crash so far. I'm also sure that I updated my drivers. Any tips?

Thank you in advance.
Get a new Computer
man they should hire you karth you have the solution to everything
thx diggs

but on a more serious note, could you post the error messages (if there are any)? I mean, we really can't help you  without that information. Plus, OS, graphics card, Ram, etc?
Oddly enough, there isn't any error message. The computer just turns off until I turn it back up.

Here's the specs if it helps:

System Manufacturer: ELITEGROUP COMPUTER SYSTEM CO.,LTD.
System Model: NFORCE6M-A

Also, Mr. Face owes me five bucks.
it completely turns off?
does it do a power off sequence, or does it cut power?
are you accidentally hitting your power strip switch with your foot in excitement?
you bought a new computer with a 7400 GS in it?
Actually, me and my dad build it from the ground up.

And actually Zaneyard, I'm very sure that I did not hit the power strip by accident.

answer the rest of my questions.
Oh right.

Yeah it completely turns off and I'm sure that it isn't some kind of sequence.
so it just goes black?
Pretty much. Strangely, it only Source games.
shit idk
ask hek
Yeah, this sounds more like hardware and software problems. You might even try asking Valve about it.
what kind of poopy power supply did you install in it?

I'm sure as soon as HeK wakes up/gets back to the city he can give you a hand.
i kinda assumed power supply, but i've never put a power supply in a computer that couldn't run it. i also found it odd that it would only do it on source games
I sent Valve an email and hopefully, the problem could be fixed.

Thanks to everybody who posted in this topic.
I told HeK about it, he says he thinks its the mobo, but that there will be more advice to follow.

As for now... it's brunch time.
What is your power supply brand and size?

It's possible that Source games utilize extensions within your video card or CPU that other games or applications do not. This may either draw more power, generate more heat, or initiate a fault.

How long can you play a source game before your computer shuts off? Can you monitor/log your temps/voltages (Speedfan?) and see if any trends relate to when your PC shuts off.

I'd also run a Memtest86 and a few loops of 3DMark just for giggles, see if that has any effect.

Right now I would lean at either a faulty power supply or motherboard.
