Saturday night, I restarted my laptop, but when it was booting up, it was all "Windows is loading files" and then I see a red, comically large ERROR. The window title was something to the effect of C:/RECOVERY.DAT IS MISSING. My laptop runs Vista, so I tried using a Vista disc to repair my installation, but the startup fixer didn't find anything, and system restore kept mysteriously failing and giving me a memory address. Then I backed my shit up and did a clean install of Vista on my laptop...and now, the screen fucks up and the laptop freezes every time, usually less than half an hour after it's turned on.
you have any other OSs to see if they run?
No, but I'll download the version of Windows 7 I get for free from my school (reason I didn't just install that was because we have to use Cisco's Clean Access Agent to connect to the network and they won't support Windows 7 officially until November 23rd).

Apparently Windows 7 computers don't have to use the agent until the agent officially supports Windows 7. ;D
