Looks like they're puting up a combined preorder push for the same price as the standard NS2 SE.  You can check the individual sites for perks, but briefly...

Alpha access for both games (though NS2 only has alpha editor tools atm)
When NS2 is released, those who perordered get special black armor (kinda like the old constellation icon concept) when the game releases.  No effect on gameplay, but just shows who was an early supporter.
Support indie devs.  They get something like 99% of the cash for all this.

So c'mon, don't be douche bags   Support devs who are actually doing something interesting and are notably NOT EA.

That's kinda cool, cept I have no interest in NS2.  Overgrowth is exciting though, Lugaru was a pretty cool concept work.

Awesome two games to package together.

Edit: And EA are actually being pretty cool lately. Getting some interesting IP's out and what not. Activision is the new EA.

Edit2: It seems one will be able to register their Overgrowth key with Steam. Natural Selection 2 is pending on that matter.

Overgrowth's not gonna be out for another two years at the least.  They are still developing the engine. The good news is that preordering gets you access to their weekly alpha's as they make said engine.

Not to mention the editor is really nice.  Much better than hammer.  Or should be once it's done.
