So I'm a poor person on a limited budget but I reaaalllyyy want l4d2. I'm trying to meet the reqs for it, so I systemrequirementslabbed my computer. I failed on:

  CPU Speed
Recommended: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
You Have: 2.10 GHz Performance Rated at: 4.2 GHz

  Video Card
Recommended: DirectX 9 compatible video card with Shader model 3.0. NVIDIA GeForce 7600, ATI Radeon X1600 or better
You Have: ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x7183)
Upgrade Suggested: Unfortunately, your Video Card does not meet this requirement. Click here to see some recommendations.
Features: Recommended attributes of your Video Card
  Required  You Have
Video RAM  128 MB  1.0 GB
  Hardware T&L  Yes  Yes
  Pixel Shader version  3.0  3.0
  Vertex Shader version  3.0  3.0

I don't trust SRL's suggestions because I assume they are biased. I'm also confused because it seems that I meet the attributes, but SRL just rejects my vidcard based on model number.  ???

So, what are some cost effective suggestions, ladies and gents?
8800 or 9800 GT Nvidia (at least 512 VRAM) or whatever the ATI equivalent is..should be pretty cheap these days...and an AMD X2 6400+ should be running around the 100..could be wrong about prices since I havent checked. Those would get you to run it ok for around $250 or probably less.

Yeah I wouldn't really recommend that he buy an AMD chip when he has an Intel mobo.  A 2.1 C2D can prob be overclocked if it actually ends up being a bottleneck, but I dunno.  Anyways, according to a quick google search that video card is the chipset for a shitty old X1300 or X1500 Radeon, which would definitely be a problem running almost any game these days.

[/quote]i can run l4d2 on a radeon x300 at around 30-40 fps on 640x480
on 640x480

Isn't that absurdly small
