Win7, Intel Quad-Core, Intel Onboard Graphics.
Can't get C&C to display the right colors at all. Tried switching around graphics settings in C&C's setup program, and flipping around compatibility settings to no avail. Most of the colors are right, but some areas come in excessively green or pink. Not exactly pretty, that.

Any thoughts? I can't get a screenshot of it so use your best imagination when I say the screen is littered with hot pink pixels.

step 2: install www.virtualbox.org
step 3: install win98 in vbox
step 4: install C+C on vbox
step 5:  ???
step 6: profit
C&C4 came out a few days ago, I get the feeling no one noticed, or cared  :Smile

Yeah, I saw that. Played the beta and was pretty disappointed. They got rid of base building and implemented a DRM scheme similar to the one Ubisoft has (requires internet connection to play).

Vandamguy

there's only one solution to that sort of DRM

C+C is becoming the 'Sonic' of RTS's
Well this thread was a failure.

the OP was finished at post #1 we're using this thread for other purposes now
The problem is explorer.exe in Windows 7, it constantly steals active window from whatever is active at the time and gives it to the desktop momentarily, and a bunch of old games show gfx corruption because of this, Starcraft included, which is why I know about this.

There are a few fixes available to you, ranging from simple and easy, to installing a VM to play one game.

Here's easy:

Open Start menu, press and hold CTRL and Shift, and RIGHT CLICK on the Shut Down button, you'll get a menu that contains "Exit Explorer" - Hit that and explorer.exe closes (This is the clean method of killing explorer.exe via Task Manager) then just start Task Manager with Ctrl alt del and run the games .exe file from TaskMan's run prompt.

When done gaming, just open TaskManager's run command again and type "explorer" no quotes, no .exe.

:-*

if you don't wanna go through all that and you're familiar/comfortable with Auto-It, I made a macro to automate all of this for Starcraft before I found out they released a new copy for Windows Vista/7 and it's quite user friendly.

-1 since Kirby came up with a more eloquent solution AND an explanation on why it happens. Derailing threads when you believe they're done is still derailing.

+1 to Kirby for coming up with the solution, saving me the time and me from destroying my room (in the middle of moving, no less).
