Be Right Back, Uninstalling

Full Version: OH DEAR GOD SAVE ME

So, in a fit of brilliance, I managed to get infected with some spyware. It's masquerading as "Antispyware soft". I did some searches on it and found several methods to remove it, but they're all failing. I even went and bought a copy of Spyware Doctor hoping it would save me. Nope. It's stopping many of my applications from running; I can't open Malwarebytes nor open the task manager.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I'm being constantly assaulted by popups and alerts. I've never been hit by something this intrusive.

EDIT: Ran in safe mode, tried malwarebytes and spyware doctor. Malwarebytes found nothing. Spyware Doctor "found something", "fixed it", but I'm seeing exactly no improvement.

EDIT2: In safe mode again. I think my software was out of date. Malwarebytes is finding shit now.
see if rkill works
Spybot Search and Destroy
If it's that damn horrible, you might just have to reformat. Be wary of backing up .exes and the like, if the spyware is particularly nasty they can attach themselves to the installers and infect the new copy.
Holy balls, that shit's tenacious.  You should tell us where you picked it up and how to avoid it O_o At least the rest of us won't get boned.

Uber TaskManager that isn't on a lot of MalWare's auto-kill process lists.

Has the ability to right-click > suspend processes as well, so you can stop malware w/o killing the process in case it has a watchdog on it.
k, after a regimen of Malwarebytes scans, Spyware Doctor scans, Spybot scans, Ad-Aware scans, and that rkill thing, I think it's dead. I'm pretty sure updating my solutions was key; the last scan I had run was probably in January. Thanks for your input guys, I think I'm back in action. And I'm grabbing that task manager, that looks pretty swell.

And Karrde, don't worry. It was my poor judgment when downloading files that got me into this. I was surprised to see that this hit me before the file even appeared to finish downloading though.

Vandamguy

if anyone has this happening to them , get me on steam
yeah rkill is pretty boss, i used that to remove a few of my families viruses
Safemode, start->run->'MSconfig', uncheck everything. Reboot.

Gets 96% of bad stuff. Then run one of the above.
Also run Housecall, just in case.

You just made my day Luin XD

Fun learn from my fail moment:
When downloading large files, that contain EXEs, it's worth time time (Even if it's a good two day scan) to scan the whole file before installing.. and on a personal note: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a third time, it's a sign I should give up. Fool me a fourth time and it's a wonder I can get my damn PC working again.

And you can bloody quote me on that...

Oh and fellow furries.. as tempting as it may be to search on Deviant art, Deviant Art's banner advertisements contain Trojans (among other things) stick to Fur Affinity.
