Anyone else been playing it?  I've put a good number of hours into and really enjoying.  It's just so much more rewarding than GTA4 which was a very disappointing game to me.  It's certainly not just "GTA with horses" cause it does alot more.  There are countless things to do, random events that keep the game interesting, and lots of exploring you can do on horseback as you hunt animals.  Really solid game.

Next month is a free 6 mission DLC pack for folks and new challenges are put into the game with the Social Club feature.
This game is freaking awesome. We need to get a brb.u posse together and go robs banks and kill lawmen and stuff like that.
is it good?  i heard that the first one wasn't so good, but then again i always mix up red dead revolver with Gun (which might have been like the worst ever).

Totally forgot there was a first game.  Can't say I played it or remember Gun, so I can't really compare them.  I just really like this game.  I don't think this second game even has much to do with the first game really.

Looking back at a review, I think the only relation to the first game is the Dead Eye mechanic really aside from obvious Western ideas.  Being a full open world, no load, setting, I think that's pretty amazing.  The only time there is loading is during games and missions.  And it looks great.  You can see amazingly far in the game and with the no load, you get a very awesome experience of being in a really massive world.  Sure, it's not Just Cause 2 ridiculous, but more than enough lol
It looked really good. Too bad there's no PC release, because I believe the game consoles of BRB, U vary.

how is performance? Cuz it quite honestly looked like shit at PAXEast, lagging something fierce on the xbox hardware. Better or worse than GTA4 in terms of performance?
PS3 here, was thinking about picking it up, but I'm guessing it's mostly 360 out there?

I'm a PS3. If I get the funds I'll think about picking it up.

According to this the PS3 version is a crappy port with low frame rates and bad LOD.

this saddens me.
It cannot possibly be that hard to develop for PS3 in comparison to 360.
Game runs great on the 360 for me.  No framerate loss or choppy.  One time it got choppy when I had a bound bounty on a horse, the horse ran off scared, so I killed the horse.  I thought the 360 was gonna freeze till I picked him up and everything was fine lol
Anyone got up to Map 5 for Treasure Hunting?  I'm stuck there right now.  Something about some circular formed rocks and going between them, but it's not like the other which gives alot of great hints, unless I'm just missing it.
I've heard the PS3 is almost identical except it has 80 lines less of pixels, but it is getting exclusive content DLC. Anyways newegg has this game $10 off for the next 3 days.
Still though surf, it's just lazy to make the graphics worse :\  If they can make huge games run fine at 1080p, it just seems like a lot of companies aren't willing to put in the effort.
from what ive seen this games graphics kinda look terrible, they look like borderlands without the black borders but iunno if they were going for that or it just happened
I thought they looked pretty good.  Like GTA4, but with more detail.

just double checking, since i might want to pick this up and play it on a friend's box for the summer: I assume GTA4 ran as terrible on your box as it did on mine?
Ugh I know this sounds sad but I'd rather not get this game than get it on the 360. It'd probably RROD my system again.

I don't remember alot of problems with GTA4.  While this is just as big as GTA4, it has less of the big buildings, amounts of people, and vehicles which leads to better performance and looking better I think.  I really can't compare that side that much, but I haven't had a single slowdown or chuggy gameplay yet that wasn't from just a random bug that doesn't happen often.
