I got this today, gonna be playing tonight. The first one was pretty great and this one has near perfect reviews.
i thought the first one was pretty good but the controls kinda sucked and they overused the same 3 or 4 gimmicks, is this true for the 2nd one?

probably my lack of the stupid dongle at the end of the wiimote they made because it sucked and the poor placement of the fuckin sensor bar, because i thought all the waggle stuff controlled really badly, had to do each thing like 3 times to get it to register

rumsfald

heh, just mothballed my wii today. I think I was at like 60 some stars on UR MR GAY, like 2 years ago when I stopped. Was good, though.
I'll probably pick this up in the near future, but I can't afford anything right now.

i sold mine, kinda regretting it since MH tri looks p good
Super Mario Galaxy was only just "okay" to me.  I didn't like the setting or ideas they took for the game.  Would've rather seen more Mushroom Kingdom stuff, but I guess it's obvious they wanted to push the Wii gimmicks to the max and make circular worlds and things that had to use the wiimotes features.  Haven't liked a Mario game since Super Mario 64 anyways.

I might be interested again if they bring Mario back to the Mushroom Kingdom or something similar...Or come out with Mario RPG 2 lol

id rather they not, i thought the circular worlds thing was more interesting than LOLOL PIPES AND GOOMBAS (even though both of those were in the game :/)
wow 5 stars in and i think this is going to be the game of the year, if not, then best game for the wii yet

everything about this game is awesome, cant wait to get to the hard parts though (lol hard)
anyways yes maxon i really hope they come out with SMRPG2, since SMRPG was the best mario game and my favourite game of all time
Mario RPG > All Paper Mario Games Combined

Sorry
what are you saying sorry for

you should be glad that you recognize the difference between a FUCKING AWESOME game and a "meh its good for a rpg" game

The circular worlds are just another gimmick to go along with the rest of the Wii gimmick.  It gets old fast.  For me, putting things in space is when you've run out of ideas.  Seeing that there was only two other 3D Mario games before and only one was actually in the Mushroom Kingdom, it just didn't seem necessary or even Mario-related.  To me, it's like what they did with Sonic...sure it was done with solid ideas and gameplay, but its with the mindset they need to constantly change things or people will hate their games.  Zelda has proven that you don't to change the game all that much and can still be a great game.
yeah, instead of making more zelda/mario/metroid/whatever games, they need to abandon them and make new franchises because all their shit is pretty much played out, but people will keep buying the same games over and over so theyll never stop :/
1tb drive to the rescue
SMG2 OST - Throwback Galaxy

Um, except pretty much all of those franchises I can't think of many _bad_ games in them, the main ones at least.

Mario, Mario 2, Mario 3, Mario World, Mario World 2, Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, Galaxy 2 - Mario 2 was probably the weakest

Zelda, Zelda 2, Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Windwaker, Twilight Princess - Zelda 2 was the worst

Metroid, Metroid 2, Super Metroid, Prime 1, 2 & 3 - Metroid 2 probably the weakest

And that list leaves off some fucking epic side (and handheld) games as well - ie. Awakening, Mario Land, Mario RPG, Zero Mission

And yes, they do make new franchises every generation as well....Animal Crossing, Pikman, etc.

There's a big difference between continuing to make games in a long since gone to shit franchise like Sonic, and one that's continued to impress over time.
