So I'd like to backup my iPod's library onto my new computer.  I used to use the program iDump for this, which used to be freeware, but it looks like they started charging for it.  Fuck that.  Does anyone have any other free programs that they'd recommend for this task?  I don't need anything super fancy.  A barebones program with minimal functionality would do the trick.  Just need to be able to rip some songs with it.  Thanks.
Use iRip. Fantastic program, but they charge for it. Luckily I believe there's y'aaaaaaaaarrrrrgh version on Demonoid.

Hmm.. I checked Demonoid and ISOhunt, but everything seems to just be for Macs.  I should have specified that I'm looking for something Windows 7 compatible.  Thanks for the tip anyways though, Karth.  'Preciate it.

It is Windows 7 compatible, honest! I've used it!
I've used SharePod for someone else once. Seemed to work fine.

Like I said though, iDump has started charging.  Not freeware anymore.  Believe me, I used to use the SHIT out of iDump.  Alas, it has fallen, brothers.

Really?  I tried using an old version a few months ago, and it was just yelling at me that I needed to visit their website and get the latest version to get it functioning again.  I'll poke around later and try to find an old installer.
i used an old version a few weeks ago and it worked fine

Professor Funbucks

Winamp works.
Copy to local media ftw
but it might take a long time

I've used this as well, and it's free.
Yay for opening an old topic but if your willing to put up with odd file names turn on "Show hidden files" (However you do that) and navigate to the iPod though the explorer, there should be a hidden folder called "iPod_Control" then inside that another hidden folder called "Music" and each of the folders "F00" "F01" "F02" and so on hold your music. It's about as cheep as it gets but it's not without drawbacks.

I've extracted the music from my iPod several times (Each after I've suffered a catastrophic system failure (Aka I fucked my PC up something fierce that time...)) and each time it seems like some of the files are missing the titles and so on of the songs.

Still, beats paying for things....

Or seriously just use SharePod, it's free and when it rips, it takes those files and renames them to make sense. It also is able to snag your playlists, which is pretty awesome IMO.

Went with SharePod.  Mission is right, it kicks ass.  Great program.  Thanks for the recommendations everyone.
