Okay, so I've (Sorta) been running a few tests and while Minecraft maps seem to be entirely random, I sent a "world" to a friend of mine and the "randomly generated" terrain seems to have remained the same. (Right down to minerals located underground.)

The Project is a simple expansion on that, more people = more chances for things to be different.

What you need:
Minecraft Alpha
The Cartographer
The Project (7zip required to unpack)
An Empty World 2 slot. (It's possible to back up worlds, see the readme.)

If you don't wish to participate, you need not read any further. If you do, here's the details.

Your spawn location, weapons, tools, and supplies are all the same. I want you to explore this world and map it out, reporting in weekly to see if the maps do indeed change. The reason, some of us may explore further in one day than others. Make sure to mark locations and the spawn.

Here is the map as of 8-08-2011 at 5:00 PM EST

EDIT: Forgot to tell you how to post the map -.=.-
Open the Cartographer, select the option called "Oblique" then hit "Generate" there should be a PNG in the same folder as the Cartographer)

[move]Load the game, and get out there and explore! Big Grin[/move]
and dragon's all "ooh, I'm too good to post in BACKFIRE'S thread, Imma go make my own it'll be better and stuff. I dun need him anyways."

So is this just like you give us a map you generated and we all play off the same map? I'm still kinda confused what the point is or why you needed your own thread >.> ...
i dont get it what is the point of this

you are looking for changes in geometry when we run your map but your map has already been generated.
The game's map size appears to go up with the regions you've explored, I'm trying to find out if it randomly generates the areas that haven't been rendered yet or if it's all pre-defined.

And backfire since this is just pointed towards The Project so I figured rather than spam your topic I'd make one
