Spending money on maplestory

I think that may be the worst thing I've ever done.
I traditionally donate a lot to servers or communities. When I was 12 or 13 I donated $50 (a lot for me at the time) to help maintain an animation community. Since then I've funded a pair of Ragnarok private servers and donated to keep a couple of other communities alive (and by donate I don't mean small denominations like $10-$20).

I was also one of those people who spends real money on MMO stuff (even in free MMOs). I remember sinking about $100 into LaTale (a 2D side scrolling fantasy MMO), and I don't regret that at all since it was the primary way I spent time with my girlfriend at the time. I also remember sinking $200+ on donation items on a private Ragnarok server for myself and guildies. That I do regret. I spent a significantly smaller amount on Maplestory as well; which was fucking worth it because I looked like Slash.

I also made the following purchases over the summer:
$270 on a new monitor
$460 on 2 GTX 460s
$80 on Valve merchandise (most of which now covers my dorm room walls)
$400 on a PS3, two games and a second controller
$600 on a laptop for myself (for school)
$600 on an All-in-one PC for my dad (birthday/get your tax software and wiki bookmarks off of my goddamned computer)
Unknown amount on Steam games during summer sale, probably $100-$200.

↑ Most of that cash was earned through summer jobs or my parents paying me for doing volunteer work; was very nice of them. (EDIT: I had also saved $1000 for my girlfriend to visit me before we broke up) I also got assistance paying off the laptop and All-in-one. I'm making up for it now by being incredibly frugal this year in school; instead of paying $1000 for the goddamn textbooks I need, I'm using old editions I scrounged from recently graduated seniors (don't worry, I consulted the professors first. I do put my education first). I'm also eating as little as possible and scrounging free food where I can; cheaper and probably better for me than dormitory food.
$880/month rent + $250ish/month utilities on an apartment I barely live in. Fuck you, work.
I've spent a lot of money on my Earthbound collection :<

100$ on Earthbound
60$ on Mother 3
14$ on Mother 1
24$ on Boxed Mother 1
19$ on Mother 2
25$ on Boxed Mother 2
32$ on Reproduction of Earthbound Zero
45$ on Mr Saturn Plush.

Also i could swear i've spent over 1000$ on comic books during my entire life
$280 on a 24 of beer......
Shiiiiiit.

I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do.

Let's break down this crime

Actus reus - Buying dumb shit
Attendant circumstances - The value of the shit was less than you paid
Result - You own dumb shit
Mens Rea* - I'm going to go with recklessly since you probably weren't fully aware of how dumb it was to buy
Negatives justification or excuse (defenses) - Had extra money -> invest that shit, But it looked good -> read up before you buy bitch
Statute of Limitations - I'd say if it's still knocking about your room SoL isn't up
Jurisdiction and venue - The dark depths of your materialistic soul

I need a life.

I don't spend that much on rent or utilities.  But I still haven't slept at my place in over a month.

If I put the sword up on the wall, does that make it a more sound investment?
