I just got billed 300 dollars for an ER visit, this is after Student Insurance kicked in.
Mind you the doctor spent 30 seconds to identify the problem and fix it - with a disposable 6" wooden dowel.

My tongue got stuck in my braces. As a college student without a job I am unable to pay this. What do I do?

I'm planning on visiting soon to talk to them about this bullshit. But for the most part I think I'm screwed. I can simply default on it I guess and make them sell the debt to a collector and get a new number.
This is why other countries laugh at us ;_;

Medical bills are usually pretty hard to weasel out of Sad

Duck, Duck, Goose

Shoulda moved to Canada. Wink

talk to the doctor. If you pay cash, he'll knock money off the bill, purely because he doesn't have to deal with an insurance company.
I'm not taking money from any of you, I'm gonna try and get this bill down to zero dollars.

Turns out my school's insurance guy totally gave the wrong information because when I visited the hospital today the billing lady told me all the info was wrong and the insurance company didn't have me on record and that the insurance company wasn't the one used for student insurance.

Also picked me up a "free care" form so if that doesn't work out I'll pull the "no job" ticket.

Just tell them "no hablo ingles" and they'll just put your bill in the shredder.
