Time to gas up the hype-machine and roll out!

Mass Effect 3 VGA trailer
can't wait to be a badass again
Mass Effect: A game about a race that has just discovered its cosmic neighbors, trying to eke out an existence and ban together against a common threat for all species.

Mass Effect 2: A game about this baller race called humanity that makes all other races its bitch and everybody else should join forces to help humanity from a threat only for it.

Mass Effect 3: EARTH IS UNDER ATTACK! SAVE THE HUMANS! STOP EVERYTHING!

I fucking love Mass Effect, but it looks like they have a big issue with the scope of the games.

I highly doubt its going to take place entirely on earth. Also the reapers are still a threat against the entire galaxy, what did you think they were going to do after they eliminate Shepard? They're not just going to stop there. They plant the seeds of civilization, then harvest it every 50,000 years for a reason. So they can continue evolving as the other races do, since they're machines they don't evolve, instead they just harvest everything else the civilizations they start do. Shepard just threw a wrench in their plans since the Protheans had started a method to combat them, but didn't act in time since they didn't know how the Reapers would attack, and they haven't ever had a race actually try to defend themselves. And since they come through right at the Citadel... Their chain of command was fucked right away. But now they can't do that and there's plenty of time to prepare for a Reaper attack since they have to travel through lightyears upon lightyears of deep space to get to the Milky Way. And their first target is going to be Earth because Shepard's fucked everything up for them. Earth's going to get blindsided though because the only person who's seen proof of Reapers is Shepard, Anderson believes but I doubt the Earth politicians are going to believe even though he's the Earth Council representative. And obviously Cerberus doesn't have a good reputation at all, even though the Illusive Man believes. However Shepard has the entirety of the Krogan race backing him (if you didn't let Wrex die, of course) the Rachni (if you're not a douchebag) Cerberus if you decided to keep the base, I'm presuming.

But seriously though, it's the first trailer, they want to hook people right away, and that's to show Earth under attack by the Reapers.

Earth started off as the scum of the galaxy.... now to this.

To quote a comment from Kotaku:
Quote:The first story ended with a massive, epic, dark theme. The entire universe was threatened by an enemy that didn't even have to kill.

The second one was reduced to "they kidnapped some humans and are making a human-shaped Reaper."

Now the third is going to be Earth Defense Force. It's not even like we'd give a shit about Earth, there are humans all over space. ME3 should have opened with the Earth being obliterated.

Just gonna throw this out there.

Why does everyone give a shit what the supposed objective of the game is and where is will take place?

We all know it's all going to end up in a grandiose battle to save existence itself. Who gives a shit where it takes place as long as it is completely fucking awesome?
choosing earth is retarded

end of ME2 was awesome

Wha?
I should actually get around to playing Mass Effect 1 someday lol
You don't even know what point in the game this trailer is taken from.  Maybe Earth is destroyed at the beginning of the game and you fly around the universe as usual.  Maybe this is the final battle when the Reapers finally get around to fucking with Earth.
At the end of the trailer, Shepard should take off his mask revealing himself to be Will Smith

WELCOME TA URF!
There's probably going to be several missions where you have to woosh home to earth, blow up a few ships, then carry on about your day or some big battle near the end, but it's highly unlikely that the entire game will take place on Earth... It would be putting that wonderful galaxy map and resource gathering to waste Tongue We're probably gonna end up dicking around the areas of the first two games as well as some of the far reaches of the galaxy , some of the inner, and maybe some of this "Dark Space"
This may be a tired meme, but I laughed.

Hitler finds out Mass Effect 3 is going Multiplatform

I wonder what the tedious part of this game will be. MAKO missions in 1, mining in 2.
