So uh it was released today so I'd thought I'd make a thread about it.

UPS says it's "out for delivery" right now so I've not gotten it yet. Pretty excited to play something new over spring break. Not bad considering it cost me $-3 thanks to a $50 gift card I had for amazon and amazon doing a $10 promotional credit to people who purchased the game from there. Too bad the credit needs to be used by the 31st though (I'll just use it for a preorder on a game I know I will like).

Played the demo to death, and really loved it. I like it because it has that "solid" feel like CoD, except with it's own unique spin. And the CoD-inspired gameplay fits Crysis 2's setting/motif SO MUCH DAMN BETTER than it ever did for the CoD games in my eyes. Which makes it playable to me (I'm weird like that - I don't like playing games that don't logically add up in my head).
I'm waiting for the singleplayer reactions people have. The suit and controls felt so weird in the demo compared to the more nimble feeling one in the first.
I like it better in concept I just wish they'd actually make suit modes... signifigant. I want to feel like I'm doing a super punch and super speed sprinting, not just "normal sprinting but with energy".

Speed mode and strength mode were useless in Crysis 1, and now they streamlined those two to happen automatically which is great. Too bad they are still underpowered.

Anyways that might just be multi so who knows. I just got the game and am going to install it now Smile
Are they porting MWLL to this?
Prob not anytime soon seeing as there's no editor or SDK yet plus would take a fucktonne of coding work to get everything working again in a new engine

Did you actually play the game or just go invisible the whole time?

Agreed. And then you'd sprint to punch another guy in the dong.

Yeah. Speed and strength were a great way to die on delta difficulty. Seeing as they are only support modes, and drained far too much energy.

Anyways I've played a bit more of the SP and I'm enjoying it pretty well so far. Intense as FUCK on the hardest diffculity, the AI is really good at seeing and seemingly flanking you. It still has that Crysis "plan your approach" feel for a lot of the sections I've played so far (not super far in yet), but it's still a bit more linear than the first game.

As in, don't expect to walk up on a giant beach cove and be able to literally go any direction - the city is too confining for that. It's now closer to walking up on a largeish city block, street or pavillion and then deciding how to approach the situation, with several different ways to get by the enemy patrols, etc. But again, the city makes it much more confined so your options are so far usually limited to "sneak by using sewers, go in via front, flank using right alley, etc. The goals so far have always been "get to point A at the other end of this area" but I just got into a big wide open pavillion area where I have to inspect 3 different positions in a large "gameplay playground" crawling with enemy.

There are several "hallway" sections but these areas still have that planning involved - plenty of exploding barrels, loose cars to kick, and enemies patrolling.

So it's like Crysis 1's gameplay so far but.. different. You can customize guns still, and there's a new suit function that lets you customize your suit. Everything for it is locked though for me still. I am pretty early on in the game though.

Oh and I get crazy good performance maxing out on a 460GTX. Thought he game did cause my PC to shut down and make my keyboard no longer work. WooT!
So who else has this? Finished up single player last night and I wanna play some MP that's not some crappy tdm "hide and seek with guns" deal. I got a quick match (and by quick I mean 30 seconds before my computer crashed) of assult mode which seems pretty cool. A team of poorly equiped nanosuits against a well armed group of marines. It's 4v4 and single life only, but it seems kinda like a mini-counter strike deal which I might be able to get into.

Anyways, so yeah, who else has this and put down your names.

Also, here's a tool for advanced graphic options. Lets you set all graphical controls as well as FoV for both normal and running, mouse smoothing and toggle crouching or aiming.

I mean, yeah I was really confused how such a PC focus based company did a complete 180 and gave this game the most simplified graphical options I've seen in a PC game, but I ended up not really minding it all that much. Its temporal anti-aliasing does a pretty good job of smoothing out edges while not affecting framerate at all, and though I hear a lot of complaints about how blurry it makes things, I actually it. On very high, I get a solid 40+ fps on my 3 or 4 year old rig. Not saying I'm down with the whole simplified settings, but I like to think they has some idea in mind when they made that decision less of "lol pc"
cool

unfortunately for crysis 2 black ops first strike is coming out in a few hours

Also, I just punched a dude running up the stairs and he fell over like this

The game's hardest mode is still hilariously easy. It only takes about 4 bullets to go down, but because you can shoot a silenced pistol while cloaked... err

Crysis 2 - Fuck yeah Silenced Pistol
20-30fps on very high, 1920x1200, quadcore OC'd to 3.8ghz, HD6870 OC'd to something i forgot

Jee, it's only trying to anti-alias 2.3 million pixels 20-30 times a second, with only a gig of RAM.

Go have daddy buy you another video card if you want FPS at that res =p
yeah except backfire's computer ran it better than mine

anyway disabling catalyst AI fixed it, which would have been easy/obvious if only the latest CCC didn't completely remove that ability. now i get 35-50fps on extreme.
I recorded a lets play/light video review of the first time I've played the Wall Street level on hardest today, gonna put the video together later tonight. Might even use a nice catchy title like "PC Gamers: Why Crysis 2 isn't as bad as you think it is"  Tongue

Though it's not the best level to show off I guess since it turned out to be pretty linear compaired to the rest of the game.

I'm all for that. I'm sick of everyone complaining about "ooh crytek abandoned their PC users" "oh the game sucks now" "oh it turned into call of duty". I mean they put out a great AAA game, and yet all everyone does is bash the game. Crap like this is why I stopped trying to give a crap about what other people think of stuff.

Though, I do wish they left it so you could holster your weapon for a slightly quicker run speed. Games are much more immersive when you can put your gun away.

Get ATi Tray Tools in addition to CCC, it's got options to toggle stuff that CCC has slowly been omitting controls for.

I'll look when I get home and see what the latest version is. Ever since a CCC update or two ago, a ATT has been acting a little funky when controlling some settings, but it still works great for advanced tweaking and shit, and given that ATi cards still have a predisposition to doing really weird things in some games, the advanced tweaks in ATT have solved every one for me.
