Just wondering if anyone has done this or knows the legitimacy of it. I did a little research myself, but I figured I would ask here before I went around throwing my information on some website.

Microsoft Ultimate Steal eh?
for students only.

Also, this isn't uncommon. Many college sites have insane deals for college students. Example: I could buy a student copy of AVID media composer (normally $3000+) for a little under $300.

Yeah, I have a EDU email address, I've actually already signed up for it, I just haven't gotten to purchasing it. This thread is kinda a whole, "Has anyone else used this?" plus "Hey check it out other students you can get some cheap Windows 7 + Office!"
Microsoft has offered most of their products via a student edition for @ .edu users at insane discounts for the longest time, you might have been the only one online to not know about that.

No, not really, I was more wondering if anyone had used this specific site. Considering I already got stuff from my school, and got Visual Studio for free.

I don't know, I figured someone else would have known about this specific site. Guess I was wronggg.
People pay for microsoft products?

To my knowledge, there are plenty of student discount sites.

Here's the one I mentioned earlier.

this is how I bought windows 7 for $30. It's legit, worked out well. Only hiccup is that I went with the download service, and they do place a limit on how many times you can attempt the download, so be sure to have a couple backups somewhere! They can reset the counter but it is a HUGE pita that I actually just finished going through this week.

Oh, awesome. Thanks for a real answer! Haha, but can you use the serial code for it more then once? Because I have a copy of Windows 7 now, but I could only use the code once, so I want something I can install over and over.
How could you only use the code once? You mean you could only use it once ever, or you're only supposed to have it installed on 1 machine at a time? I've definitely used my serial multiple times, on multiple machines. Assuming it's the same scheme (I don't see why it would change), the serial should be re-usable. Worth calling and asking though, to be certain

The use only once code I'm talking about isn't from this Ultimate Steal deal. I got it from somewhere else, but I could literally only use the code once, if I try to reactivate with the code again it will fail. I knew that when I installed it though. It was completely free, so now I'm looking to purchase this and have a legit OS that will actually last me a long time.
ah, ok. yea, the key I got from them during pre-order was a legitimate serial, can use it as much as I want. I've never purchased their office stuff so I'm not sure how that goes, but probably the same process.

The specific package I bought (which was actually through digitalriver I think? from the link you posted there's a section labeled "Other student deals from Microsoft" which is the purchase I made):

Quote:Product SKU: FQC-02813
Product Name: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Upgrade (Pre-Ordered)
Anticipated Released Date: October 22, 2009
Qty Ordered: 1
Amount: $29.99

Product SKU: DR_EDS_PRODUCT
Product Name: Extended Download Service
Qty Ordered: 1
Amount: $5.95
Shipment Tracking Numbers:

                                SubTotal: $35.94
                                Shipping: $0.00

                                Tax: $2.24
                                Total: $38.18

Technically I purchased an upgrade, but because I was "transitioning" from 32 to 64 bit, I had the option of doing a fresh install, which is what I used.
As long as I can do as many fresh installs as I want I should be good, thanks for the help!
