I've about had it with these drives.  I'm pretty sure my RAID just failed on me.  I don't have time to really look into it since I gotta get to work but I'm pretty much ready to chuck these drives.  They've never performed up to what they're supposed to, and frankly, they've become a pain in the ass.  I've got everything backed up, gonna try to get clonezilla to go and hopefully save me extra work later, but I've about had it.  Looking for recommendations for new HDD setups.  Not looking to go broke on the deal and can't really see filling more than say 1.5 - 2 TB in the next few years.  SSD could be in the mix too.  Looking for thoughts on what kind of setup I should buy.  My current setup is in Raid 1 and I regret it Tongue  Too damn slow.  Right now I'm thinking some kind of SSD, one SATA 6GB and something to clone both partitions to.  Thoughts or ideas?
If you're going to use RAID, be serious about it and don't cheap out on the drives. Get the enterprise class "raid ready" drives. These will be noisy but they're better performance, short seek time, and support TLER. If you're going for Seagate these will be the model numbers which end in NS (for sata) or SS (for sas).
I'm not certain I really need RAID though unless I go for like RAID 5 this time.  Really, sure it kinda saved me this time, but nothing a good backup and cloning routine wouldn't solve.  WD still the king of HDDs?  Even though these ones are WD Tongue  Thoughts on my SSD and 2 Sata 6.0 gb idea?  For that matter, anyone know a good resource for researching SSDs?

Raid5 is worthless. Ask me how I know.

Only raid formats that are worth while are 1, 6 and 1+0.
lol, sounds like a good story.  Looking back I actually meant raid 6 ;P
OK figure out how to fix the problem.  HDDs not dead.  Maybe dying.  POS Intel drivers seem to be the culprit.  Still thinking about switching gear because shit sucks.
Back that thang up.
