Mechwarrior Living Legends time tonight

Time: 8:00pm CST

We will all link up on mumble at 8 then figure out what server to join and go from there. Be prepared for LRM raping and RAC 2 swarming.

To install:

You need Crysis Wars to run this (regular crysis is no longer supported)

Step 1: Go here: http://www.mwlldownload.com/

Step 2: Download the launcher

Step 3: Launcher should download 0.5.0 version then ask if you want to upgrade to 0.5.1

Step 4: Download 0.5.1 hotfix

Alternate version:

Download 0.5.0 via torrent

0.5.0 Full Torrent
0.5.1 Patch Torrent

Create a folder in the Mods folder of Crysis Wars and label it mwll

put everything from the torrent into the folder.

Then you should be able to download the hotfix normally.

at that point you should be good to go. Start the game through the launcher and select internet game.

However, there have been numerous problems with the downloads.
Is there a good guide for installing this correctly and frankly, learning the game?

Im having a bitch of a time installing it, going to try the 0.5.1 hotfix tonight, as for leaning, just like Planetside - Yelling + Mumble

My favorites.

Also, they definitely nerfed the TAG insofar as they've also nerfed LRMs. Firing fewer than 40 LRMs at a single Mech with LAMS means maybe 5-10 get through and hit the target. Firing into/past a group of heavy 'mechs (friend or foe) = forget it, the LAMS' don't differentiate between friendly and enemy missiles and shoot them all down. I don't think they work on Arrow IV missiles, but to do that properly we'd need a group of at least 6 (spotter + one or two C3 ravens to chain the targeting data back to at least 3 missile boats).

That also means they'll expect swarming even less Wink

Just download the torrents and extract to the Crysis Wars mod folder.
Between Dtrain, At0m and myself, I think we've got all the major bugs covered.
I also ran the CCC tuner suggested in the performance guide and applied the sound fix suggested in the troubleshooting guide to the autoexec.cfg file that CCC generates in the game's root install directory (/steamapps/common/Crysis Wars/). I had to do that to get decent performance with the first beta versions as well, so that's not new news. Also, had to use my Creative headset instead of onboard sound because I was _still_ having issues with stuff cutting out even after applying the sound fix.

Installing manually via downloading the torrents is definitely the surefire way to go for now. The Auto-Updater is definitely a spectacular idea, but it doesn't play nice with my Windows 7 install for some reason.

I wish the autoupdater would work properly, though :/ I couldn't find a download link on the page HeK linked to a 'fixed' version, nor did I see my problems described in that thread.

@Dtrain, update the OP with the torrent links.
I set the speaker option to 2 (stereo) instead of 5. It worked well for me.

Code:
s_SpeakerConfig=5
s_maxchannels=128

Regardless, onboard soundcards are not Crysis friendly.

The 'updated' updater should be available from the download page: http://www.mwlldownload.com/download/MWL...-0.5.0.exe
So the Hollander B is the W+M1 mech. I ran into a group of about 6 mechs and fired the 4 flamers while mashing the AC20 trigger. I then died and my mech went nuke right in the middle of the group.

I also got about 5 kills with the long tom. It's still good, you just need to be smarter about using it.
I failed at remembering we were going to play last night D:

What you need is a pair of long toms and a guy using a tag to mark a range and bearing. Then it's rain time.
anyone want to play today? hit me up on steam
I do, whenever I get off work :/

ok, i have today off so let me know when you do
Ok, I think I have it installed and working, though I have no idea how to play.
W and S control your throttle

A and D move you left or right

mouse controls your torso and gun elevation

Mouse buttons control what weapons you fire

you can change weapon groupings with the arrow keys and enter
Slightly more complicated keyboard primer:

Battle armor is pretty bog-standard FPS fare, although you need to press , to buy guns in spawn. Also, crouching regenerates armor and health faster. Mouse1 = fire, Mouse2 = throw grenades, Mouse3 = change grenade type, mousewheel = change weapon.
Z toggles zoom
L turns on light amplification
F gets you into things (empty tanks, mechs)
Shift runs
holding down spacebar when you jump activates your jump jets.

For mechs,
WS controls throttle
AD controls leg steering
mouse movement controls torso movement (up/down and torso twist left/right). Mouse1 = fire weapon group 1, mouse2 = fire weapon group 2, mouse3 = fire weapon group 3, mouse4 = fire weapon group 4. Ctrl crouches (must be stopped), spacebar activates jump jets (if equipped) Shift activates MASC if your mech has it (sprinting in exchange for heat buildup).
R toggles radar active/passive. Your detection range for enemies increases in active, but you're also easier to find.
O overrides a heat-induced shutdown, C flushes your mech with coolant to cool it off.
P powers down your mech so you can get out without ejecting, also activates repair facilities if you're in one (in a hangar, basically)
F ejects, which blows off your head armor but launches you into the air, hopefully before your mech is destroyed.
Like Dtrain said, arrow keys and enter let you change weapon groupings, and \ changes fire mode (group fire will fire everything in the group, while chain fire will fire the next weapon in sequence when you mash the fire key).

For vehicles, WASD controls steering of the vehicle, mouse movement controls aiming, and the rest of the mouse & keyboard controls for a Mech also apply.

I recommend using vehicles at first to get used to how the purchase system and HUD work, then try piloting a mech. Mechs are much more powerful than vehicles, but they're more complicated to pilot due to the way you have to control throttle (instead of just mashing W) and your leg steering separately from the torso movement.

I'd also say just load it up and join a server that isn't doing Solaris Arena, and experiment. Solaris is fun, but it's got way too much downtime for a newbie to learn anything useful. The MWLL wiki is also a great resource.
Double post because I have to fly to Wisconsin and have failed you, zane.
Comma opens the buy menu
M is the map
J (while in the hanger) sells your mech/tank
LCtrl crouches / deploys.

X/C leans while in BA
X is the brake while in a vehicle.

[/quote]If I have a few spare days, I just might. I'll be in Wausau this weekend, and Colby next weekend, so between the two would not be a terrible time to drive down. http://tinyurl.com/3g7mxs2
